 :hmm:

A live writer's post is like nails drawn across a chalk board for Thumpa.
I shouldn't be amused by his suffering.
But if I had the nails for it, could I resist adding to it?

"...I will then, I like tit for tat especially when the tits are like puddy tats then..." Jats laughs watching it now, then whispers "...don't worry, he hasn't read this, he won't watch it, and won't get it then..."

Quote from: "Thumpalumpacus"I forgot I had ignored Jats.
In all my "old man story" long years of discussing things in various ways over the internet, I've never ignored a single person... no matter how bad it got, I never ignored anyone... until now. I didn't ignore Jats and fleamailman because of their "style" or because I don't like what they have to say... it's just that after reading over 30 posts of each, I've yet to find anything useful, interesting and/or not boring. This alone would be fine for me to just read through without much of a problem, but the frequency and length of their posts was causing me to waste too much time on things that have yet to provide anything... well anything besides a waste of time.
Always question all authorities because the authority you don't question is the most dangerous... except me, never question me.

PoopShoot

I've ignored flea, jats and two fundies.  Flea and Jats for the reasons you just mentioned and the two fundies for similar reasons, though the time wasting was more of a circle-jerk of stupidity rather than simply being boring in the case of the fundies.
All hail Cancer Jesus!

"...well, ones detractors are many..." started the goblin again, adding "...but "not being read" means what exactly where one is anonymous to start with, I mean are there some sort of extra brownie points for posts that have "Poopshot's very own badge of approval" here, or the "these posts have been judged readable by the great Davin himself", when it's pretty obvious that JATS random thread is just there for anyone to post to now..." letting the penny drop so speak, continuing "...and nothing would please me more than having you show us how we should post, and what we should post too, think you can cut it then, or is it just that with you each time..."

It's nice to know I'm not the only one who put those two on my ignore list. And like you guys, it's not because of they style of writing, but complete lack of anything worth reading.

You were my greatest mistake, I fell in love with your sin

("...better put this one up before someone posts it as a reply again..." mentioned the goblin, adding "..no, the difference between me and JATS is that he doesn't suffer fools lightly whereas I am just so used to them...")

repost from elsewhere, fobbing off that same old barb again

QuoteI make it a point never to read your posts.

"...well that's where we just differ ever so slightly now, in that you don't read my posts and thus go ignorant by it, whereas I read your posts and still go ignorant by it..." replied the goblin simply enough where much simplicity was needed here

The style is enervating.  I don't like anyone who makes me walk a mile for a drink of water; it's inconsiderate of the reader.

And yeah, on principle I hate ignoring someone, and I've only iggyed Jats here.  I've iggyed a couple of others on another website, but have ceased even that little bit of sanity since I was made a mod.

"...wrong, one posts for oneself always, selfish I know, but selfless cannot be sustained in the run long, and one just becomes invisible to oneself that way..." replied the goblin, adding "...you see, readers ruin the writer in their expectations, for if I were to write as you suggest, you would be bored, more by those met expectations again than by anything that I might post contentwise...", and then the goblin had to ask "...yes, well I suppose I could lower the writing style and content somewhat Thumpalumpacus, so which poster's level are we talking about here, down to Davin's or right down to Poopshoot's then..."

TheWilliam

hahha this flea dude is nuckin futs.

maybe i'm just a dorky abstract junkie. but I like the goblin.

i think he cheefs on the low.

fleamailman

("...and I like you too TheWilliam..." replied the goblin then, adding "...for if you can imagine me doing this across fifty forums each night, where my email inbox is a jungle of notifications at times, you might understand why I enjoy this madness then, though taking on the atheists here is thanks to JATS here, since normally I battle trolls on their forums or writers on theirs, not much difference between them though...")

repost from elsewhere, in reply to that same old barb

QuoteI don't read your stuff

"...so I guess you're not reading this either..." ventured the goblin adding "...besides, if one actually makes a list of everything and everyone who doesn't read my posts, starting from basic inanimate objects like chairs, tables, doors, etc., perhaps leading on to animals like dogs, cats, chimps, etc., on to certain humans into facebook, twitter, or MTV, together with other humans who are either too young, stupid, illiterate, or senile, on up to you now, one soon sees just how great a loss that is to me..." in fact, the goblin never minded who didn't read his posts and ignored him, no he cared for those that could actually progress off that list then

Oh, you suffering artist, you!  No one understands you!  No one sees your genius!

Words are for communicating.  Anything that impedes communication should be jettisoned, including precious writing styles which only obfuscate the content.

Unless, of course, your style is more important than your content.

"...well thump, if you mean by "suffering", those lameflame bots who are ever ignoring me so attentively now, I'll have to admit that I'm suffering in total silence from them MYAHAHAHAHAHAHA..." ventured the goblin, thinking on something else, adding "...but where do your words actually fit in to someone who is anonymous throughout, so try and connect the two then, and note how those words make no sense now, instead think "journey to self" perhaps, or "knowing oneself by what one posts" then...", in fact, the goblin's posts were all dead by the time he hit the post button but still he posted on now, yet his three goals remained

McQ

Well, it is becoming more of a challenge to distinguish between a troll and those who choose to communicate circuitously, calling it an art form of some kind. Especially when those writers seem to revel in their writing martyrdom and wear it like a badge.

Any posts that serve no purpose but to purposely antagonize other members here are not in the general spirit of the Happy Atheist Forum, regardless of writing style. I hope that sentence is clear enough. If anyone's purpose is to obfuscate, irritate, antagonize, or otherwise simply tweak the figurative noses of others, I, and/or, the others mods ask that it stop.

I have no problem with people wanting to be creative. Although Live Writing is new to me, I don't have any real feeling on it one way or the other. But I'm starting to get one, and it isn't positive. So if all it is is a method to annoy the membership, I'll ask those who write in that style to keep from doing it if they are doing it only to elevate their own egos and denigrate those who don't use it.

In other words, don't be a pain in the ass just to be a pain in the ass. We have an entire section devoted to artistic and creative ideals. Have a blast with it. We learn new ways of expression and creativity all the time, and I'm happy to see something I've never seen before. There is no intolerance for writing style, only intolerance for for people wasting other peoples' time for their own enjoyment. Those people are forum trolls.

I don't care what style you write in. Big Mac wasn't banned because of writing style. His style was very blunt and plain, and easy to read. He was banned because of the either worthless content or aggressive and antagonistic content, and attitude toward other members. Same will hold true for anyone here. I appreciate you all trying to understand that and keeping to this forum's guidelines and rules of civility. Thank you.

That is kind of harsh, I never did make it through Ulysses, but I accept it has value.
I might work it out one day.
I don't recall any great speeches delivered in point form.
Words are for whatever we can make of them.
Play with a ball, word, or chord, what's it matter?
Should we leave it to priests and politicians?
