Quote from: "Asmodean"I wonder what dude translates to in Norwegian...  :raised:

The dude is universal.

I would have thought you'd know.  What do you call random people who you don't personally know?  For instance "hey, that dude over there looks like Steve."  Is there a universal word for addressing people, but not by their name?  For instance "Dude, don't talk to me that way."
All hail Cancer Jesus!

DropLogic

guy is 'fyr'
that guy is 'at fyren'

Doesn't really have the same ring as 'dude'.

And "ein oigege hosenschlange" doesn't roll off the tongue like "one-eyed trouser snake", but what's to be done?
All hail Cancer Jesus!

Web translator..?  :raised:

At is not directional, as in "I said that(...)" translates to "Jeg sa at(...)"

Fyr has a different shading than dude. We have other words as well, but none I can think of that make for a perfect translation

Quote from: "Asmodean"I'd say whatever toots your horn and doesn't bend others' fenders is an attractive way of life.

but what if it doesn't merge in time and cuts you off in the intersection and then dramatically slows down right in front of you.

Meh, I've only ever heard it spoken and I have no umlaut on my keyboard.  Also, I'm not sure the accent was right, the guy who said it was Swiss.

Aha! That explains the phonetics.

My neighbour is a Swiss-Austrian, so I hear that dialect often.  :P

Seem to remember that ogen means eyes in Dutch :-P

But one-eyed... It's one word in Dutch too, is it not?
