If Biden stays how can Trump not win? Biden introduced President Zelensky as President Putin at the NATO conference. They excused this as 'just one gaff'. Isn't one like that enough?

And refers to Harris as Vice President Trump apparently.
But as someone said on the radio, they are confident Biden's mistaking Zelensky for Putin and Harris for Trump wont stop him beating Nixon in November.

Pearl-clutching isn't going to help. Nor is the media. Trump is incapable of carrying  out a genuine press conference along the lines of what Biden did just yesterday, but the story is about a gaffe from Biden.

"So now the media will demand that Trump hold an hour-long press conference on complex foreign policy issues — right?" snarked attorney and legal commentator Tristan Snell, who headed the successful New York State civil prosecution of Trump University.

"Trump is getting a free pass just like he did in 2016. No way he could do a press conference for 40 minutes after 3 long days with world leaders. He is incoherent most of time when he's not spewing bile," declared CNN Political Commentator Karen Finney Friday morning.

"It's now time for the corporate media to dissect every word Trump says for the next two weeks, have debates on his mental state, amplify the small number of Republicans who want Trump to drop out and demand he hold a press conference where we can dissect him even more," remarked attorney and SiriusXM host Dean Obeidallah Friday morning.

It also appears that neither candidate is really up to the job.

trump has been getting a free ride in the american press. he isnt held accountable for the bizarre and dishonest things he says except in the most cursory way.

i think much of this isnt particularly sinister-- its just that most people in the media are judging trump by different standards-- they think hes crazy, and so when he says crazy things its not news, and they ignore it. biden is being judged by the older, rational standard.

what this means is that when trump and biden behave equally poorly, speak equally poorly, or dont do well equally, trump is ignored and biden is pilloried.

i have given up on following american politics, and just want this election to be over. i am watching my society devolve into a fascist state, with corrupt executive, judiciary, and legislative branches, a transformation from democratic republic to oligarchy, and a diminishing quality of life and prospects for anybody not in the top one or two percent.

when the oligarchs talk about fixing shock collars to ensure the loyalty of their bodyguards in the event of insurrection (which is true) then we have crossed the rubicon.

The shooting did not do in The Donald, fortunately. The shooter and one spectator are dead.  One other person was wounded.  Trump appeared to have blood on one of his ears. He was very quickly escorted away by the secret service operatives with Trump shaking his fist and apparently yelling Fuck- fuck- fuck.

This episode can propel the campaign outcome either way. Trump might gain some support as a sympathy factor. Others will say too bad the shooter missed.

I could make a case either way for the shooter's political leanings. Could hate republicans, or could be a republican who is loyal to the US and really pissed about the classified documents fiasco. Just to pick one possibility out of the pile of things that could get the chump shot. I could suppose all day long; I'm not planning on shooting him, much as I despise him.
