Tear drop shaped version.

The ROTO pivot parts have arrived so on with that now.

It's getting there. Next is pivot building and then making that work and then moving onto a better wood. Pine is fine for experimenting but I'll need a tighter grain for the finished product.

True. Pine will just sort of tear apart under the kind of stress.

damn.

i have an old british motorcycle sidecar. missing a windscreen, but the manufacturer still hss some NOS, for US$450, lots of money, but theyve hung onto it for 60 years. weighs nothing, but its a big box to ship, maybe 24 by 24 by 24 inches.

is the shipping charged solely by weight or is volume factored in?

Just be happy.

Tank

Weight is the predominant criteria but size will factor in as well :(

Possibly no longer valid but a few years ago it was less expensive to ship things from the UK to the US via Royal Mail than it was to ship things to the UK via US Postal Service. Took a long time to get across the Atlantic from Blighty though.

Billy, why not ask the manufacturer what the shipping charge will be.?   Shipping from here via USPS is scandalously expensive. Hopefully not as bad when shipping in the opposite direction. Be aware that the damned tariffs may come into play.

I recently shipped a book to a friend in Lithuania. The package weighed 3 pounds 10 ounces. Box was book size. Cost 66 dollars and change. Sheeesh!

I figure that you can have a perspex screen made here in the US for less than the cost of the Brit one, plus shipping.

gustaffon plastics is th eamerican fairing guy. he recently bought all the molds from aerotech streamlining, which was the go-to point for a fairing for anything ever made. interestingly, the last thing i bought from aerotech was a human-sized box containing a full fairing for a 1960s BSA A50. shipping across the USA was $150 for a box full of styrofoam ghost poo. gustaffson did the windscreen. dont remember shipping.

https://gpcycleworks.com/products/watsonian-monaco-sidecar?_pos=1&_sid=93c0de7f6&_ss=r

so he can do a fairing for $652, which apparently includes the upper metal rim.

however, watsonian in the cotswolds can do the original upper AND lower metal trim.

i havent called em up because im still upstream of that, but i sppose i should in case they only have one left. its been 60 years, after all.

watsonian also used to make a godawful ugly-- but period-- convertible cover for the thing. i suppose i have no choice but to ask about that too.

mine is in ^^^this condition or better, though, so i hesitate to shortcut the rejuvenation by aquiescing to common sense.

Just be happy.

"ghost poo"

Not heard that before.
