Looks like it's made by Rockler. Don't know if they ship to the UK. (Amazon UK says they're "currently unavailable.") If no on shipping to the UK, we could probably work something out. I've helped with similar purchases by friends in the UK before. Can take a while though. Shoot me a PM if you want to get it in motion.

Lee Valley also sells them and has an "international" option (top of page) which might work for you.

What is your plan? Here is my idea. The holes in the washers and wooden dowels are slightly bigger than the bolt diameter to allow free rotation. The nut should be locked with some epoxy glue.

It seems like both Rockler and Veritas will happily ship the things to you, but the shipping cost is about three times the price of a set of four of them.  Then there's VAT and Customs.   Eye watering. I should have checked that before suggesting them. I see people selling Rockler items in the UK but not those hinges.

The wooden parts are essentially beads so bead-making techniques would work. If you don't have a lathe it's still doable.

Almost exactly my solution. I'm adding a 6mm steel tube to the inside of the wood and I'm using threaded rod with two nuts and locktite. All the materials should be here today.

Another option is to make a vice into a virtue and use a piece of brass rod as the pivot. It would go right through the lid and be a captive fit in the wood with a fractionally larger and longer hole in the base so the brass rod can swivel in the base. This would give a little highlight on the lid particularly with a darker wood.

I have a book to send to a friend in Lithuania. I also want to include some 3M foam sanding pads. The pads are pricey but the postage is about three times the cost of the pads.  Three pound, small package $88.00 postage.

Tell me about it! I have a FB friend in America who collects and sells honey. I wanted a jar $16. Carriage $76. Fortunately it was the best honey we have ever tasted!
