Quote from: Tom62 on September 16, 2024, 05:39:37 PMTwo attacks on Trump's life in a short period of time. Is that now becoming the new trend in the USA? If you can manage to throw your political opponents in jail for minor offences; demonise them so much that wackos will try to assassinate them?
Unfortunately, it does seem to be becoming the norm, yes. :sadnod: The Americans were "always" quicker to reach for the gun than Europeans, sure enough, but political violence... Never a good sign, as far as my knowledge of history goes. That's how to-some-degree-failed-nations tend to change one despotism for another. If not, then people just die on the streets over ideology, of all stupid-ass reasons to die for.

Bomb in car found by dog near Trump rally in Long Island.
Perhaps another assassination attempt on Trump.
Perhaps assassination on Trump supporters.

Just be happy.

Really?

It's not political, ideological and other-such terrorists being terrorist-y, it's them proverbial chickens? The US well and truly has fallen in these last few years, has it not? :sadshake:

I haven't seen this on a major news network yet.

Ours are busily quoting some professor about the damages from Covid vaccines. Something about compensation for the affected and what else have you.

If you let the farmacologists experiment on you, then you prolly shouldn't be surprised if you suddenly grow a second nose, is what I say. I did let them experiment on me, and beyond being 40 (more more than less) leading to aches and pains in absolutely everything, I'm no worse for wear. If I did grow another nose though, I doubt I'd run screaming for The Community(tm) to bail me out of my own unfortunate decisions.

Do not trust a man who cheats at golf.
Especially the world champion of cheats.

A mulligan is replaying a shot without penalty, usually because you don't like the look of it.
It's illegal in the rules of golf.
A "give-me" or "gimme" is down to your playing partner in matchplay, when putting.
Trump goes further with a "give-me" chip in. Never known before in the history of golf.
You do actually need to win the club championship on a specific date to become the club champion.
Can't just award it to yourself like Trump has many times.
Anyone who beats him will be thrown out.

If you want to play his golf courses in Scotland:
Trump Turnberry will cost you £495 a round.
Trump Aberdeen a bit cheaper at £345 a round.
(For people with more money than sense).

I'd say trust cautiously in general. I assume that people cheat, lie and look after number one and number one's inner circle, of which I am not a part even if I think that I am.

Far fewer disappointments that way, and it changes surprisingly little otherwise, practically speaking. (If I assume that you will not pay for your half of the night out and thus come prepqared with extra cash, the only "downside" is me ending the night with said cash still in my possession and a positively-surprised disposition. Such-like sort of thing)

I don't understand why Trump has to cheat at golf.
In my experience more than anything it's a game of trust.
If you score a 6 on a hole, you don't say put me down for a par.
There are not many Par 6's on golf courses. I only know of one.

Asmodean

Why would you cheat in a "game of trust?"

Precisely for that reason. It's not particularly ethical, or even nice for that matter, but where there is trust, there is abuse of trust. How do you think cheating spouses can get away with it for years if their counterpart is a bit on the trusting side? "You have to believe me, I did not sleep with that woman."

It's a path of least resistance to whatever you define as victory.

Because among other mental/emotional disorders he's a pathological narcissist.

QuoteBut why? Why does Trump cheat so much when he's already a decent player? And how can he be so shameless as to cheat right in front of people? They call him on it, but he just shrugs and cheats some more. It's ruined his reputation in the golf world. Ninety percent of the people I interviewed — on and off the record — say he openly cheats. A lot of them said they stopped playing with him because of it. So why? Why cheat? Why lie? Why exaggerate his handicap, his scores, his club championships?

"Because he has to," says Harvard psychiatrist Dr. Lance Dodes, co-author of The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump. "He needs to be the best at everything. He can't stand not winning, not being the best. It had to have started very early in his development. To him, not being the best is like fingernails on the blackboard to you. He can't live with it."

Suggestions that have appeared on the internet:  The secret service is not doing very well with the protection of Trump. He has endured close calls with two attempted assassinations.

The suggestion is to use forget the secret service attention and use "Thoughts and prayers". To be even more safe, post the ten commandments at the front gate of the golf course.

while trying to spell the word Assassination, I noticed that the word ass occurs in two parts of the word. ...........somehow appropriate when connected to the subject person.  No not to suggest that we snuff him out. Merely to apply the noun to him.

Dark Lightning

I beg to differ, in the account of the second 'assass'ination attempt. First of all, the dude never saw the ex-president, and was discovered by the USSS prior to the chump reaching that link. I suspect a put-up job. I'll be less inclined to think so once the slugs from the USSS agent's firearm(s) are recovered. The dude didn't get hit, which means all those stray slugs are out there somewhere. Lucky no one else was injured, I'd say.

I'd like to play Trump at matchplay golf with a few tricks up my sleeve.
This is not cheating. Gamesmanship maybe but never cheating.

Trump tees off, then when his back is turned I move the tee-off marker a few yards forward for my shot.
My ball goes into the rough. I find it then lift it up to prove it's my ball, then place it in a favourable spot.
Marking my ball on the green, I nudge it a bit closer to the hole.
When Trump marks his ball and asks me for a gimme, I agree.
On a subsequent hole when the putt looks similar, I decline. Puts doubt into his mind.

If Trump scores a hole in one, he'll probably mark it as zero on his card.
Now that will prove he's a cheat.

Asmodean

Is not a hole in zero an automatic Cosmic Victory though? :thoughtful:
