I agree, though I used to buy that miserable rag of a Saturday morning for my dear friend because she liked its TV guide.

There's an archived version but really all the article is is padding for quote from a recent book which purports to reveal some of Queen Elizabeth's comments on Trump.

Quote'A few weeks after President Trump's visit, for instance, she confided in one lunch guest that she found him "very rude": she particularly disliked the way he couldn't stop looking over her shoulder, as though in search of others more interesting.

'She also believed President Trump "must have some sort of arrangement" with his wife Melania, or else why would she have remained married to him?

'For his part, Donald Trump was confident he had been her favourite guest ever. "There are those that say they have never seen the Queen have a better time, a more animated time," he later told America's Fox News.'

I didn't watch the debate. I can't stand the sight of that ... hmm, I can't figure an expletive that doesn't harm the expletive worse, for the comparison. I knew he was crazy 9 years ago, and haven't liked him since hearing of him, in the '90s. Back then it was just eyeroll territory, since I hadn't heard about him wandering around the dressing room with all those girls changing clothes.

I just saw some clips of the debate. In general I think that Kamala Harris did pretty well, because she drew all attention away from her to Trump. She was better than Trump, who was continuously side tracking to defend himself against Kamala Harris and the two heavily biased reporters. He should have stayed focussed on the economy and illegal immigration instead. Trumps statement about pets being eaten by illegal aliens was however pretty stupid because that turned out to be noting more than an unverifiable social media rumour.

Trump is incapable of staying on subject, he wanders astray and tells incredibly improbable lies about sharks, batteries, Silence Of The Lambs, size of his crowds, stupidity of his rivals, his sexual conquests, his enormous intellectual capacity, his unfailing ability to dictate terms to Putin, His devout Christiandom, and numerous other transparent absurdities.

Yet, his followers, tens of millions of them, believe him to be the inviolable evidence of the second coming.

trump used the debate to lie over and over. he was fact checked three times, i think, a first in his performances. on cats and dogs, on post birth abortions, and on the level of american crime. what i saw:

he said US crime is up. but US crime is down. he was fact checked.

he said the democrats let people kill newborn babies. but thats a crime everywhere. he was fact checked on that too and didnt like being called out.

he said he didnt know anything about project 2025, except he has spoken at their meetings, his VP candidate wrote the introduction to the official book about it, and he's hosted the founder on his private plane.

he said, hilariously, that brown people are eating americas cats and dogs. even the originator of that facebook post has gone back on it. he and his VP candidate still promote it. the moderators fact checked him on that too, and he said they were wrong because he had "heard it on television."

and the immigrants that are violently taking over the towns in ohio and colorado? i live in ohio and i dont see any of that in the news anywhere.

trump still claims he won the election in 2020, and i watched him lie about how he was cheated in  his court cases. i followed the news while he lost those cases, and he simply lied about what happened.

these are just a few of the whoppers. the most interesting these days is how he is both claiming he won the debate-- "by a lot--" and simultaneously complains about how he wasnt treated right by the moderators, and that harris had radio speakers in her earrings feeding her answers. if he won so decisively, why are all his people complaining in public that the debate wasnt fair?

srsly?

harris accused him of being easily manipulated and then proved it by easily manipulating him. he could have pounded her on the economy, but instead he defended his family inheritance. he could have skewered her on why all her proposals havent been put into place, so far, after three years. (why not?) but instead he talked about his crowds, "the biggest anybody has ever seen . . ."

she led him around the stage on a leash and he barked like a dog whenever she told him to.

for me, there were two classic moments.

the first was when she told him to his face that world leaders mocked him for cozying up to dictators who could manipulate him with "favors and flattery," and the moron claimed--- i kid you not--- that this wasnt true because viktor orban-- hungary's authoritarian leader who favours putin and constantly goes against EU consensus-- told him that everybody was afraid of him . . .

the second was when the moderators asked him to outline his proposed health plan for america, and he sputtered that all he had was the "concept of a plan . . ."

its been NINE YEARS that trump has promised a health plan "in two weeks . . . in two weeks . . . in a short time . . . in two more weeks . . ." and nobody in his campaign could get him to even memorize a 100-word summary of something, anything, for a debate question that was sure to come up? nobody over there appears competent to boil water, and they want to lead the country?

trump demonstrated that he is led by vanity and overweening over-confidence, that he cant plan ahead for even obvious eventualities, and that he would rely on conspiracies, lies, fear, and racism in his proposed policies, such as they are.

all this would be comedy except that it is true.

harris wasnt a saint, either. she repeated the completely unsubstantiated israeli lies about mass rapes during 07 october, had nothing of substance to say about the over 40 000 dead in gaza, completely ignored her first question about whether americans were better off under biden than before, and spent more time baiting trump into making a fool of himself than she spent talking about her own plans.

exept on abortion. she got dead-ass serious for that, looked into the camera, and made her case for reproductive autonomy for americans, and for the dangers to that of a trump presidency.

i have two  young adult daughters, and while i dont like either harris or trump, i will be voting for harris solely because of that.
