She's a former student. I don't want to back away so I'm choosing to analyze the situation. Maybe this prospers, maybe it won't. I agree with you about acting outside the marriage. However, we don't have a  divorce law yet. And thank you for bringing my kid in the picture. I could've acted recklessly. It would be unfair for her.

I was thinking about my grandfather today. He would have been 101 years old today. I loved him very much.

Before he died his mind would come and go. Once during one of his more lucid moments - he asked me if I believed in Jesus Christ as my Savior (he was a southern Baptist) and I told him yes just to make him happy even though I didn't really believe that anymore.

He said that made him happy and he cried. That was the only time I ever saw him cry.

I don't regret telling him that.

I never told my Mum I was an active atheist but I never told here I was a believer either, it would have just upset her and done no good for anybody. I was once chatting to her about Darwin and Evolution and her comment was 'Why did he {Darwin} have to go and make things so complicated!' I realised there was no point in pressing the matter. Hopefully with the passing of these older generations things will become at least a little less superstitious.

I heard an interview of an aged care worker talking about caring for dementia sufferers.
She said some people saw the truth as important, but this often caused too much distress.
An example was given of an elderly person asking if their long dead mother would be visiting.
The carer would say yes and in a couple of hours the patient would have forgotten about it.
If the truth was told the patient would get very upset.
They would forget what they were upset about, but still be upset.
