Is she your student? If so, back away now.   If not, you may choose to analyze why you are attracted to someone so much younger than you, assuming your attraction is more than simple lust.  Get a divorce before you act.  Affairs when separated are always tainted and your daughter will never forgive you for cheating on her mom even though you are separated.

My dad was 9 years older than my mum so the age gap isn't a huge issue. If she's your student then are there issues to do with your job? If you are separated and 100% likely not to get back together then carry on slowly and by 100% up front with your new friend about your history with your wife. Your new friend has the right to know what she's letting herself in for. Other than that just 'do no harm' to her or yourself.
