I'm thinking seven posts in a row on the same topic can probably be compressed into one post using the quote feature and the edit button. I like most of your input Tank, and respect most of what you have to say, but have noticed this trend from you.
Just an idea for forum neatness' sake. Purely constructive criticism. Not an attack on you.

Fair point. I understand what you're saying. The reason I do lots of little posts is that I personally find long, multi-subject posts a little difficult too follow and this morning I answered the posts as I came across them. I do do lots of little posts.  

I like your little posts, Tank. If I see a long post I usually don't bother reading them.

I read all your posts, and I do see what you're saying, and all I'll say is this. You've read in other posts about my past experiences, and a punch or two in the face is nothing to those. As much as I hate courtrooms, I also dislike the thought of jail, or rather, sending anyone to jail, because of the things that go on there. It's difficult to explain, but I would prefer anything that goes on in jail not be on my head. Were it something more serious then, by all means, I would have a phone in my hand and the police on the other end, but it was a couple of punches and, while they were good punches, I've dealt with worse in high school.

Man, sometimes things just suuuuuuck.  I want to go back to college.  I went to college for a while when I was younger, but not enough to get even an AA.  I married young, had a kid, got divorced, yadda yadda.  Six years ago I went to college for a year and did awesomely until the marriage started to fall apart, when I stopped going to classes but didn't drop the classes officially, leaving me with a 0.0 GPA.  I knew this was going to be an issue when I decided to go back to school and kept bringing it up.  Every time I mentioned it, it was waved aside as unimportant.  I've been meeting with people since January.  

So now, 8 days before tuition is due, I received a letter saying that my previous quarter GPA of 0.0 makes me ineligible for financial aid for college.  But, if I pay for the first quarter and do well, I can get financial aid for the rest of the year.  They tell me now.  8 days before tuition is due.  I've been asking about this since January!  I'm so frustrated.   I know I messed up, I've been anticipating something like this, but it's cruel to wait until I have literally no way of getting that much money together to tell me I'm going to need it in order to fix my mistake.  And this is the second year I've been through this.  Last year this issue didn't have a chance to arise because my application never made it this far.  Having to wait another year to go to college seems so discouraging.  

I know my own ignorance is mostly to blame.  I'm overwhelmed by the whole bureaucratic process of going to college via FAFSA/financial aid and I'm not doing enough myself to look into issues that I know are important.  I feel really stupid for taking their word about the 0.0 quarter and not looking into it myself.  I feel like I've been trying really hard by my standards to make this happen, and every time I fail I feel like my trying hard is still not good enough.  Maybe I'm too stupid to go to school?  It's just so discouraging.

You're 17 and if I were where you are now I'd tell you to take hold of your life and shape it into what you want.  

I agree, and I am trying to. I am still however a little anxious about starting school again especially since I don't know anybody there. I am awful at making new friends.

At 17 I didn't know what I wanted to do. My father was a good man but an unintentional emotional bully, I didn't realise it then because it was what I had grown up with. I didn't have the confidence then that I have now. My father died 2 weeks after my 17th birthday, we never had a chance to resolve our relationship. As a result I never really took control of my own life in the way one should.

You're 17 and if I were where you are now I'd tell you to take hold of your life and shape it into what you want.  

Sorry you went through that Tank, but you're right. I'm 28 and I only started therapy two years ago, lost my job and now I'm starting again in Seattle. Get your life goin, you're the only one who can.

You're worthy of an education. You're posts here show you have a good mind. Shit happens (you know that). Go back to the people who told you it wouldn't matter about the 0.0 GPA and get them to explain, in detail, why they though that. The answer may be in there or it may allow you to get them to fight on your behalf. Don't necessarily consider his a stopping point. Carry on as if this has not happened get set to go and turn up to enrolment and tell people that your financial position is 'in dispute' put the onus on them to exclude you! You could well string this issue out long enough to get to the second semester and show them what you are really made of!
