Quote from: "Thumpalumpacus"I hope you reconsider your decision to not press charges.  It has nothing to do with religion, and everything to do with tagging a violent person as such.

I'm glad to hear that you're generally well.

Thanks all for the well wishing.

I hate courtrooms. I was in one for moral support for a friend who was falsely accused of wifebeating, and just being in the audience gave me the chills, no thank you.

Plus, besides, he gets to see how an Atheist acts as opposed to a Christian. He got lucky that it was someone who could take a punch and not retaliate, imagine if he had done it to someone else...anyone else really...that was having a bad day?

Like me; I'm having overlapping bad days lately.

Yeah, I understand your distaste for courtrooms.  I just don't like the idea of bullies getting off scot-free.

I'm certainly in agreement with the restraint you showed on-scene.

Honestly, GAYtheist you're probably doing yourself a huge favor by not taking it to court. They're more stress than any man should have to bear.

Quote from: "KDbeads"Whoo hoo!!!  Sold all but 6 of the 40 some odd chicks, sold out of eggs, have someone coming to look at the last 6 chicks after they get off work, set another 5 gallon full bucket of peaches on to cook down and have a ton more to go pick, it might rain, have a few egg orders if my pullets start laying normal sized eggs here soon, should have a box or 2 of free canning jars show up sometime soon....

Only thing that would make this better if for hubby to get a job offer :crossfingers:
Spooooky. I came on this thread to post asking how you were getting on selling your 'feather dusters' and there was the answer before my very eyes! Praise The Lard!!

Quote from: "GAYtheist"Give me credit for not being in jail. I was talking to a fellow Atheist at the bus stop on the way to a support group in Seattle when I Christian over-heard us talking. He starts talking and so I argue his points. Instead of doing the intelligent thing and having a good conversation he hauls off and hits me in the jaw. I know self defense and all, but I did'nt hit him back, as much as I wanted to, I just smiled at him and told him to do it again. My god he had a good punch too...jaw still hurts, but police showed up, got the information, asked if I needed a hospital. They were actually really nice to me, I was impressed. Dude got arrested for A&B, but I hate courtrooms, so I told them I wasn't going to press charges.  Go figure I run into the one nutcase...
100 Kudos points to you. Now how much money could you earn as 'The Good Christian Atheist, who turned the other cheek.'? It would be so tempting  :D

Quote from: "Cecilie"I feel kinda bad because my mom is spending A LOT of money on things I need (and want) for the new apartment... As well as new glasses, birthday present etc. Maybe I should do something nice for her (without spending money).
Any ideas?
Flowers, out of the blue thank you card, tickets to the theatre, go cook dinner AND wash up afterwards, big 'I love you!' hug.  :hmm:

Thump's right.

Gaytheist, if you don't face up to this it'll just gnaw away at you, in years to come and you'll regret it. You have effectively said to yourself 'I'm a punch bag and it's OK!'. If you read about a case of domestic violence would you advise the victim to just take it? I doubt it and this is an example of a violent attack in public. He had no justification to stick his nose into your conversation and less than none to hit you, twice! What would you say if it was a black guy at a bus stop and some neo-nazi thumped him just for the colour of his skin. It must have been a deeply, deeply shocking incident. It's easy to suggest a course of action when one doesn't actually have to do it as I am sitting the other side of the Atlantic but from a position of relative objectivity I think for your own future good you need to stand up for yourself, you are not a punch bag! Sleep on it an think hard about what you want to do.

Sophus is quite correct. It is a stressful exercise, even when you are in the right. But if every victim just walked away what sort of world would we live in? Can you imagine this guy at church crowing about how 'God helped me punish an atheist!' praise the lord! He has got away with a very serious crime, he deserves to face a trial knowing he is 110% in the wrong, he deserves a record so that he will think really, really carefully and not do it again.

I don't and won't think any the less of you if you don't press charges, at the end of the day it's your choice, but please, please put this down to experience and don't let it define you as a victim, he was a thug and you are a bright guy.

I'm thinking seven posts in a row on the same topic can probably be compressed into one post using the quote feature and the edit button. I like most of your input Tank, and respect most of what you have to say, but have noticed this trend from you.
Just an idea for forum neatness' sake. Purely constructive criticism. Not an attack on you.

The Magic Pudding

I heard an interview with an oil industry guy from Louisiana.
He's not worried about running out of oil, new discoveries continue to made.
I was interested to hear him explain how oil is created deep in the earth and seeps out.
Apparently it's not fossil fuel at all.
Anyway you don't have to worry about details, god put it there and he'll put some more somewhere when we need it.
He sounds like the Easter bunny.

Fair point. I understand what you're saying. The reason I do lots of little posts is that I personally find long, multi-subject posts a little difficult too follow and this morning I answered the posts as I came across them. I do do lots of little posts.  :D
