Just got back from the library. I checked out Freethinkers by Susan Jacoby, Breaking the Spell by Daniel Dennett, and The End of Faith by Sam Harris. I had started reading Freethinkers and The End of Faith last summer, but never got to finish them. I'm hoping I can do that this time around.

I just need to win the lottery so I can buy all these books and not worry about due dates. :P

I'm one of those people who can read a book quickly but only if I am really into it.  Otherwise it may take me over a year or never.

I found out that 1 isn't a prime number. It's blew my mind.

I'm one of those people who falls asleep 3 pages in, no matter how hard I try. I am determined to finish reading these! :P

I'm  being forced to go to Chuck E. Cheese, which just so happens to be my least favourite place.  :verysad:

I was just reminded of a little story I saw in the paper today about a little boy who asked his grandma if they could go to Chucky Jesus.  :P

My sleeping pattern has officially gone into the 'Fuck you, daytime' territory. I'm awake at 6am and I'm only getting up between 2pm and 3.30pm in the day. Now, since it's Summer I usually don't mind but I have a tiny problem that puts a spanner in the works. In a week from Wednesday we're going to Lourdes. I'm shitting brix over it. Not because it's for a Pilgrimage, I'm ttly cool with that, but because this will royally fuck up my current sleeping pattern and I'll most likely be like a bag of raging cats 99% of the time, despite promising Mum I'd be 'good' and not 'tear the arse out of it'.

FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUU-

I hate you, Sleeping Pattern.

Today I find myself mulling over the idea that most people appear to believe that "being open minded" means "agreeing with thier wold-view".

I am thinking about a really hot woman I saw to day. Which resulted (in compliance to universal humor, and the distraction she was) me running smack in to the malls electric doors.
I knew they opens slow, but my mind where elsewhere. About 3 meters to the left where she stood to be exact.

Now! She saw all this and smiled. My buddy told me later women thinks this kind of thing is cute and I shouldn't feel bad. Almost as good as roses he said.
Oh well.

Tiger?... Hardly. Tigers don't run in to doors. Possibly pounce them. That is what tigers are for. To pounce things that look vaguely eatable. Not to admire the opposite sex while running in to their possible meal.

I wondered today why we measure distance using non-negative numbers. What's wrong with negative lengths? Is A 1 meter in front of B or is B -1 meters in front of A? Now I'm testing all the geometric rules I can think of with this silly convention. So far I haven't found any that don't work.

e.g. Pythagoras' rule:
What's the length of the hypotenuse (x) of a right angle triangle with sides -3, -4 long?
x * x = -3 * -3 + -4 * -4
x * x = 9 + 16
x * x = 25
x = -5

I'm having trouble considering myself Agnostic, Weak Atheist, or a Free-thinker, and I've been loosly calling myself all of these terms. >_>

Can anyone explain to me the slight differences between these schools of thought, if there are any?
