^ OK Here goes. This is on my mind.

Americans are irrational and I am one of them.  Over long periods of times I have collected possessions that I need like a need a paper ass. My wife is far worse than me. She is the ultimate collector of things that she may want at a later date but the later date never arrives.

For years We have rented a storage space. They are usually called mini-warehouses. A 10 x 12 foot space in a metal building with a steel roll up door costing about......too damned much. It started out at $49 per month. over the years it has steadily increased in price. The latest price is $105 per month. Enough already!  I am moving out of that space.
today. I am happy that I have finally come to my senses. No more Mini-warehouse unnecessary expense.
I did complete the removal of that useless accumulation of "stuff" today. Yippeee!!

Those storage spaces are immensely subscribed here in the good old USA. The one in which my cubicle was located has almost 1000 similar spaces. Damned near all of them are occupied. I have paid into that foolish expense for going on ten years. Total output of cash over time, something like $8000. WTF have I been thinking????  Not thinking, that's what.

That's what I have on my mind this evening..........Any of my HAF peers succumbed to that kind of storage folly?

Dark Lightning

Yes, and for more money. It's full of my parents-in-law's stuff and I can't just go in and donate it all; I have to let the wife do it, for her personal reasons. I'm just going to have to take the heat and get rid of it all, somehow.

Asmodean

Hoarders!

...The Asmo, on the other hand, admits to nothing. How do them Murricans say it? He pleadeth the Fiftheth. :smilenod:

Not my call, sadly. If my wife precedes me in death, though, there will be dumpsters. :smilenod:

Asmodean

Don't let her read this, or she might just amend her will and leave you to her stuff rather than the reverse ;-P

i just washed a plate that i ate my breakfast on, and remembered how nice it is to have running water in the house. my house is about 100 years old, and when we bought it had limited water. there is a 22 foot dug well outside the kitchen that had a hand pump on it with a worn-out cylinder, a kitchen sink, and a bathtub th eprevious people had put into the downstairs bedroom. a detached toilet out by the hayfield.

the well was good from about autumn to early summer, then ran dry during the hot part of the year. we hauled water from town 400 gallons at a time on the one-ton, and i took all the kids down into the pasture to the cattle trough to wash em off. later i would come home from work and wash off in the creek about a half mile down the road.

now we have a real well that the coal company drilled for us in return for a power pole easement. it doesnt go dry, and i can wash clothing, dishes, and even drink water whenever iwant.

pretty luxurious.

Whassup with this thread? It is usually well attended.  Last entry on the fifth now it is the eighth of Feb.

I will try to wake it. This is what is on my mind at this time.

Yesterday I went to a Mohs surgeon to remove a simple skin cancer on my face. It was not a dangerous one because it was a basal cell carcinoma. Well Sheeeeit! I now have a face with a nine cm long slit and 16 stitches to close it. It seems that the damned BCC was one that I had ignored for a long time and it did what that kind of cancer does......It slowly grows larger and larger.  I waited much too long to have it fixed.

For my part, I try not to "have conversations with myself" by either constantly editing content onto existing posts or posting below my own posts. Therefore, what's been on my mind has been on hold of late.

I took care of a birth mark what had darkened somewhat some years back. My doctor referred me to an specialist because he wasn't too keen on the idea of cutting and suturing in a place where everyone can see... Well, the specialist gave me about as prominent a scar as I think the good GP could have if he came to work drunk and didn't really try besides.

Still, adds to my overall villainousness, so there is that. No regrets. :smilenod:

Ouch! I assume you're getting 'funny looks'?

I have just attached a glucose level sensor to my arm that takes a reading every minute and sends it to my iPhone via Bluetooth. In other news I also have running water.

The Asmo, on the other hand, has a generally very cold winter. Still, it's sunny today, so maybe a mini road trip.
