I have read something as a part of the Multiverse hypothesis, I think, to sort-of a similar effect. It has even been suggested that "beyond" a black hole, there is a big bang.

When I was a cigarette smoking man, I can't remember ever thinking about smokes unless I was out of them, at which point I lamented that state of affairs on every occasion where I would normally have a smoke.
