The practice presentation went well, and I got a lot of helpful suggestions and comments. I didn't even get as nervous as I normally do, which was great!
Excellent. And practice helps. You'll get better as years go by until future students quake at the thought of you being in the audience.

Brilliant and well done, Fernanda As has been said it gets better with practice.

And the leather bustier, thigh high spike heel boots, mask and whip were not necessary after all!

This is not really a technique I use because I've heard that it works - it just comes naturally to me when I train or give a presentation: I always keep eye contact with as many attendees as possible. I have had good feedback from many people who tell me that they like the fact that I speak directly to them.

Yup, gotta agree there, nothing more offputting in a class or conference room than the speaker who only adresses his/her notes or a point on the upper part of the wall behind the audience. Until confident and seasoned though, looking towards friendly faces (hoping there are some) can also help a lot. Friends can give back immediate feedback on salient points with a smile and/or a little nod, especially if you have used them previously as a "rehearsal" audience.

Being sneaky you can also prime them to ask pointed questions you definitely have confidence in answering!

I do like the thought of being at the epicenter of a silverquake! :smilenod:

Hold on, that was just a practice presentation, the real one will be next Wednesday afternoon. I might have to bring all that paraphernalia then!  :domanatrix:

Yes, I think that is ideal. :smilenod:

Got fed up with sticky tape used to hold the eye guard/patch on, it has to be removed and replaced for the 7 times a day (at the moment) I have to put drops in, leaves sticky deposits on the gusrd and my skin and gradually peels of my skin anyway. And that adhesive is insoluble in alcohol or water, I have to use "label remover," which I would prefer not to use on my face.

It is pear shaped, so I drilled a new hole in the narrow end and tied a long elastic band between that and one of the existing ventilation holes. Now it stays on but I can remove it for drops and bathing if it gets gooey, though I will reinforce this with tape at night.

Only just catching up with your news Dave; hope you are seeing a real improvement now. Are you still having to use the eye drops? Had an eye examination myself today at a Moorfields outreach clinic because of a few concerns, but all was well thankfully except some slight vascular changes resulting from high BP. Gotta keep it down.

Thanks for the hopes, Essie. Eyesight a little improved in right eye, should up my acuity a bit on the eye test in about 3 weeks but not yet as good as I hoped. And yes, antibiotic eye drops for a month, but diminishing to 4/day, 3/day, 2/day, 1/day by the week, plus anti-oedema drops @ 3/day for at least a month, depending on post-op opinion.

I hate eye drops!

I really need to learn Spanish.  Or at least speak decent 'Portuñol'.

Is 'Portuñol' like 'Franglais'? Pick only words that are, sort of, shared?

Not really. It's more like what you get when Portuguese-speaking Brazilians try to communicate with people from other Latin American countries who don't speak Portuguese. And vice versa. The quality of the hybrid depends on how much of the other language the person speaks.

The two languages are very similar, I can sort of understand a good amount of written, simple non idiomatic Spanish, but not as many spoken words, as I don't have a 'trained ear'.

Yesterday I had an online conference with a couple of Argentinians and probably only understood about a quarter of what they were saying.  :(
