That octopus (or squid? :chin:) looks delicious! :yum:

I'm guessing it's an octopus. Or is it a squid? Must be a squoctopus. :smilenod:

^^^Uhhh, that doesn't look so yummy.... Is that an octopus or a squid? I guess I can't tell the difference. What do you DO with that?
But it is yummy!  :yum:
It's octopus and shrimp. Boil that puppy, (the octopus), 15 minutes per pound. Boil the shrimp separately about 3 or 4 minutes. Chop the octopus, peel and clean the shrimp. Mix with chopped: tomato, onion, cilantro, cucumber, lemon, salt. You don't even need jalapeños this time!

You eat it with tortilla chips, it's like an appetizer--with cervezas, of course.

Perfect for this room...and the people who come here.  ;D

Yes! It's an octopus!  :dance1:

We used to eat boiled octopus arms, chopped into little pieces. It's really, really good. Takes forever to cook, though.

I thought it would take a long time to cook as well, but after 30 to 35 minutes, it was very tender. It has a "unique" flavor, doesn't it?  ;D

Ok, alright, Ill do it! You make it sound so good, and I can't hardly say no to anything with cilantro....
So if I were to go to a fancy restaurant, what would I call this delightful dish?

That is a Tostada de Camaron con Pulpo.

Well, I have always said I would try eating anything that this not actually walking across the plate - but think I would prefer that dish prepped for me!

The "walking" bit came when I was once offered small, live snails to eat. They had been fed for three days on fresh lettuce but, somehow . . .

I have eaten hedgehog (bit like chicken), roast sheep's eyes (salty), pig's testicles (chewy) and chocolate coated ants (sharp tasting crunchy centre). Waiting for a chance to sample fried locust and am told woodlice taste like shrimp (to whom they are distantly related).
Tomorrow is precious, don't ruin it by fouling up today.

I think the strangest thing I've ever eaten is an iguana. It was prepared in a pumpkin seed sauce called: (Alguashte). It tasted good.  :yum:

~Poor little reptile.  :sad sigh:

:bleh:

The most exotic thing I've eaten was an impala BBQ.

It was much sweeter than beef or mutton, not like anything I've ever tasted before.

I've eaten cactus before and woah  :hypno:

Jk. But they do sell cactus at the store in jars and, if you don't mind vinegar, it's pretty good.

This conversation brings to mind a meal I was offered while in Kenya, many years ago. It was a restaurant called the Carnivore, and it's specialty was meat. We were at a long table, and servers were bringing us zebra, crocodile, ostrich, I can't remember what else. What sticks out in my mind about that meal is pineapple. Because that's all I ate. And one tiny taste of zebra. I just couldn't do it. I'm not a vegetarian, but I'm not very adventuresome when it comes to meat. Though I am very adventurous as far as plant- based foods go.  I know I kind of wasted a once in a lifetime opportunity, but I was 17...
