I have a WWII German helmet shell for sale

Honestly, I'm not sure this is permitted. I can't remember anyone selling anything on the forums here. So I reckon I'll be the first to find out?

Original M40 helmet shell made by EmaillierWerke Germany. Size 64. No dings or dents but some pitting. Surface rust removed and sprayed with primer for reenactor consideration. The original paint was nearly eaten away by rust anyway. Best offer considered.

If anyone here is a collector or reenactor or knows someone that is/does or just wants a piece of history, send 'em my way. I'm asking $150.00 plus the cost of shipping. If someone here is in any way connected with the sale of this helmet at full asking price, I'll knock off $25.00 for helping me find a buyer.

Reconditioned helmets can go for $300 and up. Spanish and other country reproductions go for $80.00.

No hard feelings if post not permitted and removed.

I might have been interested, but german military hardware is, for obvious reasons,  not that rare here in Norway.

How on earth did you get your hands on one of those? Is that a bullet hole?

I don't see why we shouldn't allow this. It's a very interesting piece. I can't use it, but it should be able to sell pretty easily.

Would you happen to have one in a smaller size?

I'm not sure, they make it easier for me to see where I'm going though.

Well played marketing genius. Well played.

But seriously, cool helmet!

P.S. One of the forums I used to frequent had a Buy&Sell forum (actually, I was the moderator of area for a time). I don't know how practical it would be, but maybe there could be a HAF Buy&Sell?

You would be surprised how much a helmet with half the paint gone but has a good liner in it sells for here. I've see SS helmets go for more than $3000.00.

I found it about 20 years ago at a garage sale. The old woman said her husband brought it home from the war. And no, those are holes (four of them) for rivets to go through to hold the liner in place.

It would take 2 minutes to create. What were your experiences of its use? Do we have enough active members to make it worthwhile in your opinion?

Sorry, no. But with an ego your size, it shouldn't be to hard to fill it...*laffin*. I have to admit, I love the avatar pic.

You'd have nothing to lose. It would be just a very slow moving 'for sale' and 'wanted' forum. Would it cost the discussion board more to have it?

Hmmm. Well, we do seem to be getting an influx of new members! The forum I used to moderate was a local Newfoundland forum, so it had the benefit of most of the membership being in the same city. It worked more like a Kijiji than an Ebay. But we had a pretty good system of rules that kept it functional (people weren't allowed to have "discussions" per say - so it kept people from complaining that something was a 'rip off'). The membership here is about a 1000 times more civilized than the one I used to moderate (think 1,500 teenagers, many of which who knew other in real life), so that would be a plus.

The biggest problem I could see would be conflict resolution. If you agree to pick something up in the city you live in, it's not a big deal if you flake out on the deal. If someone pays for something  to get shipped, but the shipper flakes out, I don't know how we could resolve that. It could be something worth trying to figure out, though. It'd be kind of neat to have a venue where we could support HAFers.
