Hello!

Statichaos here.  Tank invited me over to add what perspective I may have to the ongoing discussions here.  I make no promises regarding intelligence, insight, or even comprehensibility, but I will give it a shot.

I'm an agnostic theist, meaning that while I do believe, it's an entirely intuitive belief, and not based upon any evidence that can be repeated through observation or experimentation by others.  This means that I find preaching and evangelism on my part to be a waste of my time and the time of others.  While my beliefs are difficult to describe in total, I can say that I'm not a Christian, and that when I do bother attending church, it's a Unitarian Universalist one.  I'm a strong believer in the separation of church and state, the right to free speech, and social (though not economic) libertarianism.  I'm also a straight ally of LGBT rights, and tend to go annoyingly liberal to radical leftist in my political opinions depending on one's own perspective.

Additionally, I'm a big fan of civil discourse, have next to no patience with rudeness or trolling, and find most atheists to be more tolerable online company than some of my fellow theists.  Looking forward to getting to know you all better.

Hello statichaos

I think I would be hard pressed to see a better introduction for a new agnostic theist member!

Thanks for making the effort to sign up and join in.

Welcome to HAF.

Welcome!

How do you and Tank know each other?

But, we missed the point the whole way along; It was a musical thing and you were supposed to sing, or dance, while the music was being played.

Welcome!

How do you and Tank know each other?

From another atheist/humanist forum.  I was needing a break from some of the more 4channish members, and he was kind enough to suggest this site as a refuge.

Hey there! A warm welcome to you! Any friend of Tank's would be a friend of mine. Glad to meet you. :)

Also, were I ever to attend a church, it'd certainly be the UU one, for the interesting community discussions, lectures, get-togethers, etc.

Oh, good.  I've been looking for some spirited but civil debate on that subject, and you seem friendly and fun.

I'm not only what I say, but I'm much more than that!  And whether I'm among friends, enemies, or those apathetic about my very existence, all that matters to me is that the conversation actually stay interesting.

I took a look through the troll dump to see what people had been in trouble for in the past (That's the first place that I look in every forum that has one).  I didn't see anything that went along with my posting style at all.  Of course, I can always call on Tank to be a character witness, but I'm not sure how much good that will do me....

Well that's OK I suppose but if you two decide to start on a duet of Under Pressure please give fair notice so I can run away.

Welcome!  While I consider myself an atheist, I drop in at the local UU church from time to time as well.

Yeah, I liked the atheist/humanist members of my old church.  Remind me never to be on a church board of directors again, though.  *shudder*
