Most branches of Christianity seem to view homosexuality as some sort of disease to be treated at very best with sympathy and at worst with fear and hatred.

There's been several priceless quotes this week in the UK about the churches stance on same sex marriage - article here

I have a friend who is gay and catholic, it confuses me that he hasnt rejected it as the Pope is openly homophobic; why still actively condone an orgnaisation that regards you as on a polite day as 'insidious and dangerous'
I also have a few Evangelical Christian acquaintances at work who view homosexuality on a par with pedophilia   :| ).

People, and in particular tubbyman. This is not a discussion thread. If a person reveals something that you would like to investigate further start a general thread on the subject. For example 'How do gay Christians reconcile their faith and sexuality?' which would be a very interesting discussion in its own right and not derail this thread.

Sorry. The last thing I'd like to say on this issue is that while most major Christian denominations view homosexuality as a sin, not all of them do. Faith and religion evolve.

I live in Louisiana. I believe abortion should be legal everywhere. Whether or not legalizing drugs will make things better is subjective, however wouldn't you agree people have the right to do to their own bodies as they please? I 'cope' by understanding that if most people took the time to actually interpret the bible from a rational and historical perspective, they would realize homosexuality isn't a sin, nor is any sexuality. And while yes, generalizations do have roots in truth you can understand how saying "Black people in louisiana are crime committing, poverty struck, uneducated people" (seeing as a majority of crimes here are commited by african american males, the average black male here makes a lower income than the avergae white male, and there is also the reputation of 'the ghetto' of being largely full of african americans) would get offensive and how it would be illogical to take the statistics of the norm and apply it to all. I.e. it's illogical to go from "A majority of X do Y" to "X does Y".

Yeah...I sort of questioned whether I should write that one down. Fingers crossed I stay intact for the forseeable future. I am a serious klutz as well. Maybe I shoulda made that one #10. Sorry to hear about your misfortune That must have been awful.
