If religions were TV channels atheism is turning the TV off.

Neat, I'll play!

[1] I got married when I was 23, but whenever I hear that someone else is getting married under 30 years old, I can't help but think "You're too young to get married!" (double standards, I know)
[2] I am one of the palest people that I have ever met.
[3] I live in St.John's, NL. The city is 500 years old, and it's beautiful here. The weather sucks, though
[4] I love belly dancing, specifically tribal fusion belly dancing
[5] I also love yoga and practice it daily, specifically Yin yoga
[6] I am a parent, but I often don't feel like I have much in common with other parents. My husband and I are pretty relaxed about it all, which seems to be against the micro-managing norm.
[7] Learning about Sociology significantly changed my outlook on the world. It was huge step in my leaving religious belief.
[8] I'm totally a cat person. I have two cats and will always have cats.
[9] My husband is a vegetarian, but I am not. People always wonder "how it works", which kind of confuses me. He eats what he wants and I eat what I want.
[10] I've kept a regular journal/blog since I've been 10 years old. I love writing. It's probably why I gravitate towards forums.
"We've thought of life by analogy with a journey, with pilgrimage which had a serious purpose at the end, and the THING was to get to that end; success, or whatever it is, or maybe heaven after you're dead. But, we missed the point the whole way along; It was a musical thing and you were supposed to sing, or dance, while the music was being played.

Eh... Let's face it: we are all prone to that. Even Asmodean-the-infinitely-perfect-one...  :sigh:

Same here!

1.I'm left handed.
2.I want to move to Australia :D
3. Driving is fun!
4. Love camping,hiking, anything outdoors.
5. I think smoking cigarettes is gross and pointless.
6. Sometimes I feel like I have grown up a little too fast, and am missing out on somethings in life (missedtheboat)
7. I have panic attacks a lot about death, which is related to existential crisis. I think that is one reason why religion is made up, to comfort people into things they can't change, such as death.
8. I play video games when I have the time.
9. I loveeee animals!
10. I think lemons are delicious.

That is all. :3

Ooooh! me too! I work at an animal hospital, which is very awesome, if sad at times.

What a great place to work! I'm sure it can get really sad, you have to see a lot of tragedies, but also some happy critters!

I would have a hard time working as a vet. Mostly I think my ocd would cause me to spend too much time trying to figure out the best way to interact with people when putting down animals. I had the vet put a cat down a couple years ago, I felt bad for being teary about it, as far as I feel like I'm putting the vet in a bit of an awkward position.

1) I really really really like organizing things.
2) I look at blogs like chartporn, which cover information graphs which are very well done, or are new
3) I'm in love with my file cabinet.
4) Vegan for 2 years, different cruelty-free diets for about 10. If I was starving on an island, I would rip the closest blood infused flesh apart and suck it down without 2nd thought however. I love society <3
5) I try to prevent people from having any idea that I'm vegan. It's so satisfying to me when someone gets slackjawed and asks with utter disbelief - "are you vegetarian?"
6) I accepted at 17 that there were only two simple things in life I wanted: To save the world, &, to be worshipped as a God by all for doing so.
7) I live by a lake, I pretend that it's lake Hyrule everyday I run around it.
8) Sam Harris's "The Moral Landscape" shifted my perspective on morality.
9) I like people. Even though they're hideously violent and prone to stupidity. I like to pretend I'm on safari everywhere I go.
10) Tool's lyric, "Remember I will always love you, as I tear your fucking throat away" is one of my all time favorite lyrics

Nothing like having an over inflated ego to keep one happy!

Indeed!

Although it was difficult for me to reconcile this realization of my humble desires with the awe-inspiring humility of my character.

If it makes you feel any better, literally every one who has worked at our hospital has cried over one of our patients at one time or another - even a vet who has been in practice for 30+ years. There's nothing wrong with crying  :)

Do you think for some the emotional sharing might be a valuable part of that work? I hadn't considered it quite that way before.
