He's magnificent. By the way, what's that in his mouth? It looks like he may have taken something off the side of the house.

Pasta Chick

He's an almost 2 year old Malinois. Known in the profession as Maligators for their penchant for launching themselves at things and latching on. He was brought over from some supposedly up-and-coming Czech kennel to do police work, specifically in narcotics, but he doesn't want to. He'll do it, because they're a biddable breed and he particularly aims to please, but his heart isn't in it. More than anything he wants to have a family and bond with a person, and true working dogs need to love their job like that.

I'm pretty sure, between his personality and drive, that he will do pretty much anything I ask him to once he settles in. I never want to be one of those people who are like "THIS IS MY DOG THAT WILL PLAY FLYBALL!" (Or agility or be a therapy dog or whatever... It's not activity specific) They have their own wants and interests and he doesn't -have- to do anything, especially something that's supposed to be for fun. But I'm like 99% he's going to be a flyball dog. I'm hoping he'll get into dock diving but he doesn't seem to know what to do with water yet - did a quick first bikejor run this morning and he hilariously, awkwardly launched himself over both streams and then flicked his feet all over because his toesies were wet!! And then... I dunno. I've always loved agility, my other 2 just hate it. I can really get into obedience if the dog loves it. I've always wanted to try bite work although I'm not sure I want the responsibility of going down that road. Herding seems super fun too; I haven't had a dog that didn't have a ridiculous innate drive to slaughter livestock in over 10 years. So we'll see.

That's from my growing collection of dog toys that look like dildos. I don't know why that's a thing, but it is, and while most of them are horrifying some are really pretty great toys. This one is pretty great - throws like a frisbee, but stretches out to a straight line when used for tug, and practically indestructible.

Buddy

Ooooh what's this indestructible toy? My Rottweiler destroys all of her toys and I'd love to get her something that lasts more than 10 minutes.

He is super cute. I'm curious to see what he decides his favorite activity is. Mine have firmly chosen couch napping as theirs. :D
Strange but not a stranger

I love my car more than I love most people.

Asmodean

The Asmo has no pets. :( None. :( His ratties are long-since dead, so now He's just patron-deitying free and others' ratties. :(

Aw... The Asmo should get some new ratties... they need you!

West Paw Design! Awesome company and I absolutely love all the toys I've tried - the girls have a fleece trout that is as indestructible as a stuffed squeaky toy gets. That one specifically is the Bumi Tug off their Zogoflex line. I know you -can- wreck it, specifically if it's chewed like a bone. The Tizzy toy is not recommended for chewers because they tend to rip the legs off. But I used to throw a couple Bumis in with a pair of 65 and 90lb Bully mix housemates on a regular basis and they barely marked it.

Now, that's a proper dog. Congratulations!

Sounds like one why or the other you two are really really going to get on!

PC, I was once into herding with my Aussies who were not particularly interested though they would do the work. One of the best herding dogs I ever watched work, was a Mal. Borders may be the natural champs at that sort of thing but the Mal was superb and seemed to be just bursting with pride for his craft.

Buddy

I brought home another horse, my first horse to be exact. I had to sell him almost 6 years ago and I've regretted it ever since. His owner called me and said that she was going to college and that she didn't want to take care of him any more so I jumped at the chance to have him back. He is now 19 years old and is in semi-retirement. I hopped up on him bare back and with only a lead rope around his neck and it was like nothing had changed. I am never making the mistake of selling him again.

Hooray for Buddy and Joe the horsey!

Davin

That is great, Buddy, and he looks happy in that image.
