Making Science Great Again. Like never before. Beautiful science.

"EPA tells scientists to stop publishing studies, employees say" | The Washington Post

QuoteThe Environmental Protection Agency has ordered scientists in at least one of its research offices to immediately pause almost all efforts to publish research, according to two agency employees familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

Staff from the EPA's Office of Water were summoned to a town hall meeting this week and instructed to halt work on most ongoing research papers. The researchers were told that unless scientific journals had already returned proofs — the final step in the academic publication process — the studies would be subject to a new review process, the two employees said.

The order to reevaluate all manuscripts came from political appointees, the employees said.

EPA press secretary Brigit Hirsch said the agency will continue its work to protect human health and the environment but did not provide details about the new review process.

"Great scientific work is continuing at EPA like never before," Hirsch said. "We are confident EPA has the resources needed to accomplish the agency's core mission of protecting human health and the environment, fulfill all statutory obligations, and make the best-informed decisions based on the gold standard of science."

Staff within the Office of Water have asked for an explanation they can send to scientific journals that ask why their papers are on pause, but staff have so far not received a response from higher-ups, one of the employees said.

Both employees said that the imposition of this type of review is unprecedented and warned that it could stymie the release of scientific findings important to preserving public health.

It's beyond my understanding what is going on in Dumps head.

that is to your credit.

i dont think anything is going on, really. trump just reacts spontaneously to whatever crosses his path. he clearly doesnt think things through.

im reminded of leonid brezhnev's diary. they published a bit of it after his death, and it was absolutely astonishing how empty it was of any thought. people would look up the dates of major confronations with international rivals or serious negotiations over nuclear issues, and brezhnev would have written about his breakfast, and whether it any good. no indication that anything was going on in his head at all.

The man is demented. It's a deplorable condition, and painful to watch, in a loved one, but he's not my loved one. Given his access to the controls of the US, and thence to the world, it's terrifying. If he wasn't the TACO president, I'd be in fear for my life. I'm hoping that he chokes to death on a Big Mac, or that a McDonalds ketchup packet ricochets off the wall in the White House dining room with enough force to lobotomize him. Then again, how would anyone know? Anyone see him denouncing Tylenol, and taking several tries to pronounce Acetaminophen? "Stable Genius", my ass.

Only death can save us. I can't even bear to watch him now I just end up screaming at the TV. :(

Meanwhile his presence is regarded as the second coming of Jesus for millions of Americans. Those ill informed Americans can, and do vote.

I'm seeing where the MAGA base is flaking away from him, as the corruption spreads. I don't know who his successor will be, but he won't be President in 2029 from what I'm seeing.

On that note, I watched part of Charlie Kirk's "funeral" Steven Miller gave a "eulogy" that is more like an insane rant for white supremacy. I can search back for (and hopefully find) links, if anyone is interested.

Icarus

Steven Miller has often demonstrated a white supremacy state of mind.  As for the Kirk tears and eulogies: will you people please, Shut the fuck up !  :geezer!:

Trump promotes a known lie about the January 6 coup attempt (there were hundreds of FBI infiltrators/agents provocateurs in the mob which attacked the Capitol). His toady, Speaker of the House Johnson, repeats it on national television. So it goes.

In addition, QAnon folks are pleased to have one of their lunatic beliefs encouraged by the Felon in Chief.

QuoteDonald Trump posted, and then deleted, an AI-generated Fox News broadcast that appeared to tout so-called "medbeds" that can cure any disease and/or ailment — a conspiracy topic among the fringe far-right — Saturday night.

"Every American will soon receive their own medbed card," the AI Trump said in the video. "With it, you'll have guaranteed access to our new hospitals led by the top doctors in the nation, equipped with the most advanced technology in the world. These facilities are safe, modern, and designed to restore every citizen to full health and strength. This is the beginning of a new era in American healthcare."

The video appeared to be a reference to the fringe conspiracy theory that posits that liberal billionaires have access to life-changing medical beds but are intentionally keeping the technology and beds from the public at large. Those who dabble in the theory also believe Trump will release the beds to the general population.

The article doesn't mention it, but the "med beds" supposedly use alien technology that the "elites" have had access to for a long time.
