Why is it that when I stretch my legs under the table Joy comes bouncing over and tries to sit on my feet? She never seems to be comfortable sitting on my feet as if they were a doggy seat but she does it every time.

Perhaps it is a mothering or protecting instinct.

Are you telling me she's trying to hatch my toes or something?

Or even protecting you toes from predators.

I'm thinking all she wants is a belly rub.

She does to my feet what this wolf does to the other wolf's head.

That is clearly an expression of dominance.  Dogs do that too.  The first move that starts a dogfight unless the dominated one chooses to retreat as this wolf did.

In the case of Joy embracing your toes it is unlikely that it is aggressive behavior. Make damned sure that it is not.

When I was an active dog trainer, one of the cardinal rules for student handlers was to let the dog know who the boss is. It is imperative that the dog understand who is the dog and who is the handler. That is not to imply rough handling of the dog unless it is absolutely necessary.  This iron bound rule applies  to all dogs and especially certain breeds who tend to aspire to top dog status.  Those breeds include Rottweilers, GSDs, Akitas and several other breeds such as Dogo argentinium.  It is not too unusual for a smaller breed to have aggressive tendencies. The Border is generally a calm intelligent, cooperative, and resourceful type but now and then one of them will have some ambition that is larger than their size.

I say again establish firmly that you are the handler and he or she is the dog.

Joy is strong-willed but she is not aggressive with people she knows. She is a bit anti-social when it comes to strangers and especially other dogs, though, probably due to her very limited socialization when younger. Because of the highly contagiousness of her disease we did not socialise her with other dogs. That will be a bit of a problem when the other pup comes home on March 28.

Online classes are really tiring. And there are so many distractions at my fingertips...

I've tried all the advice, I haven't really found anything that really works for me. So I still doodle, which helps me.

I'm nearly done with ripping all my DVD's and copying the video files on my media server. What remains are the last four X-Files seasons. On my NAS, I've now got 460 movies, 34 TV Series (approx. 1,750 episodes), 50 Music videos and 5 home videos. The worst DVDs to rip were the complete series of the Avengers TV-Series. The quality of these (made in France) DVDs were dreadful, so that I couldn't rip all episodes.

QuoteSea slugs can remove their heads and regrow their bodies, scientists discover

God bless those scientists, they're always discovering stuff.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-03-09/scientists-observe-sea-slugs-shedding-and-regrowing-their-bodies/13231664

QuoteScientists had thought that such a relatively large animal — the slugs are known to grow up to 15 centimetres long — could not survive without a heart to pump blood and nutrients to the brain.

But the same thing that makes this species spectacular is probably what helps it pull off the trick, Professor Yusa suspects.

When these sea slugs eat a certain type of algae they can photosynthesize their food from sunlight and oxygen, just like a plant, for about 10 days, Professor Yusa said.

I hope the scientists can adapt this for human use, I'd like to drop my body and grow a new one, and then drop my head and grow a new one.

That would be akin to cultural appropriation and hence wrong, reprehensible and, and... uncool.

Oh ye, but, but those slugs are appropriating from the poor old algae.

That is an age old traditional appropriation, this is the way for such slugs, beyond reproach, so don't.

Ye, but I'm Australian, my people got sent here for stealing stuff, by the people who stole the place, stealing is our fundamental founding tradition.

Na, application denied, have a nice day.
Take my advice, don't listen to me.

I'm feeling...stuff...I don't enjoy feeling...or thinking...I wonder what a father's hug feels like. I don't even know what the MF looks like. People say I look like him...But I'm not like him.
I just wish he knew that.
