A tree rattie stealing himself a camera. In the immortal words of John Oliver, almost violently delightful.

Cool little clip. You can see the man starting to follow the squirrel in the background.

This is more of a rant...today is father's day and like all special occasions I have to call my father who I rarely speak to otherwise and sit through him giving me advice on what to do with my life. I'm 30 now; he left us 12 years ago and didn't look back. He doesn't know me.

So now he wants to tell me what I should do with my life. All he cares about are titles and high paying jobs and I'm tired of it.

You have to? At your age, I don't think you have to anything...anymore.  :smileshake:

...Wait, maybe you do.  :notsure:

Nevermind.  :(

Yes, I feel I have to. He'd never let me hear the end of it if I didn't.  :blahblah:
Neither would my siblings. :blahblah::blahblah::blahblah:

On the plus side he lives around 2200 kms away so it's not like he can actually interfere, it's just annoying to receive unsolicited advice from someone who didn't care when it mattered.

But anyhoo, enough ranting on my part, onto more cheerful topics. :smilenod:

This weekend was short, but I'm getting an extended weekend this time.

Matured? What's that mean?

I mean, I just see everyone went through some things and then I went through them later. I just feel like I'm retarded.

Not knowing even your age does not help, Apathy, but I think I see what you mean. I was trying to be facetious before, the last thing I want to do is "grow up" in terms of losing the sense of (often irreverant) fun, of playing.

At the same time experience provides us with tools for handling certain situations - hopefully!

Watching others, using them as examplars, measuring yourself against them, is IMO, not a good idea. We all "mature" at different rates in different ways. We are all victims of experience and nurture, if not genes directly.

You would need to see the whole spectrum of reaction and behaviour that another displays before being able to gain an accurate comparison. Even then, would you know what is going on in their mind, behind the persona they display to the world?

Better, though it requires strength and bravery, to see how others react to your own behaviour and seek to modify it, gently, where it causes problems, to yourself or others.

Perhaps maturity is closely akin to wisdom, the ability to apply learning to good effect in life, whether conciously or not.

At almost 72 I might just be getting to that point  ;D

PS: we learn more from being extrospective rather than introspective. Head up and looking at the world with a level eye!

And check the definitions of extro- and intro- -version and -spection. They seem similar but confusing them can lead to problems, to seeking to acheive a different state rather than to observe and learn.

Why, FFS?

12 is one of the best of ages. I was fit, creative, curious, begining to understand a lot more. Then came the spots and hormones and girls seeming so much more mature . . .

Now I am 71+ and almost back there agsin - barring the fitness  :(
