I feel like crap today. Struggled with mental health issues for years, but recently my depressive spells have really kicked in and I don't think I have anywhere to turn to. Doctor will likely do nothing, can't afford anything privately, don't know what to do.

There's a few, but really there's not a lot that these groups can do...I hear voices and can't handle being in public or in crowds. I need someone professional to help me, but my doctor seems reluctant to give me any help than useless amytriptaline tablets.

I've been back twice. They're only weak anti-depressants so really they're not intended to deal with my other psychiatric issues, just my depression. But without an actual psychiatrist's evaluation, it's all I can get.

Urrggh, I apologise for sounding really miserable and attention-seeking, I just need to get it all off my chest.

Practice doctor. May try and see if there's a psychiatric professional in the practice.

You could do that as well as being put on the waiting list for a specialist, you could be in for a longish wait but if you do it now you have got something to hang onto in the future. I would also write to the senior Dr at the practice and politely state that the treatment you are having simply is not working and what more can be done to help?
