Quote from: "i_am_i"You talk to Jesus, right? So why not just ask him?
...Because they might not like the answer..? (Or the complete lack thereof, what with the guy being deader than a corpse)

wrath and dark clouds gather force.

How can you be "deader than a corpse?"

Quote from: "Ned"How can you be "deader than a corpse?"
A decaying corpse is teaming with bacteria, worms, insects and/or parasites of many denominations - every sort of tiny carrion eater that can get to it. A pile of bones, on the other hand, has hardly any life in it by comparison. Thus, a couple of thousand years old human remains are, in fact, deader than what one would consider a corpse.

The Magic Pudding

How do you distinguish a broadly recognised madness such as schizophrenia, and an accepted religious belief?
And what happens when the two are mixed?
Anyway, I wish those suffering from either or both maladies a speedy recovery.

Jesus has nothing to do with Christianity.  The founder of Christianity is Paul.  You know, the guy who fell off his horse and invented a religion.

I wonder if in the afterlife they give you a cake when your physical remains reach the two thousand year old milestone.

Nah...it's ridiculous to just think such a thing.

Quote from: "Kylyssa"I consider throwing a teenager into the street to be harmed an atrocity.  I consider legalizing the murder of homosexuals to be an atrocity.  Your religion supports and inspires both of these things and many others as well.
So Jesus would support those things?
How would any of us ever know that? The stereotypical  'nice' Jesus may not. But the problem isn't Jesus, he died millennia ago, it's bad people creating dogma in the name of an imaginary God that is the problem. The real question is this, if all religion were gone, would those parents who were screwed up enough to throw their kids out still throw them out because they are idiots anyway? I don't know. However religions deny reality and insert superstition into any and all situations thus blurring any issue. Humanity won't be able to see the real problems until the 'unreal' problems are taken out of the equation, this is where the existance of all institutionalised superstitions (religions) damage humanity.
If religions were TV channels atheism is turning the TV off.

Remember, your inability to grasp science is not a valid argument against it.

PWNED! :D

Then why doesn't your religion discard those ideas?  They are all supported in the Bible.  Since average people seem to be unable to be Christians and just follow Jesus' words and feel they must follow the rules God made in the first part, why not excise the evil stuff that makes up the Old Testament, you know, before Yahweh learned not to be an evil prick?

Jesus (if he existed) probably wouldn't have supported those things.  So explain why his followers do if the religion hasn't become completely corrupt?

Jesus was never a Christian.  He lived and died a Jew.  It was Paul who invented Christianity.  Kicking children out of the house fits right in with what Paul taught.

Is it my imagination, or do several people on this forum seem to be somewhat lacking in the social graces?

Do you accept the possibility that you sound like a fool?

Personally the question would be - who is calling who a fool.  If Ned called me a fool, it wouldn't bother me at all.   :|
