In my economics class today, I asked my students 'whether everything in the world has an economic use.' A feller answered and said 'yes because god made them fer a purpose.' I asked what the purpose of dog lice is. One said 'its for dogs to scratch.' I could go on with the whole story but I'd rather not for its lousy features. In the end, they were talking about me in the university forum website saying I my philosophy is dangerous and that I am an atheist. I'm a deist and not even an atheist yet and these kids.. ugh. F*cking christian nation.

As a University Professor, I too have had to deal with this kind of behavior from some of my classes.  Thankfully, I am in the Psychology Department and usually deal with kids/students who are bit more laid back, but occasionally I get the wild card and have to deal with the whole atheist vs. theist debate.  Usually, I am backed up by several of the students in the class, who are either atheist themselves, or very opened minded Deists like yourself.  Every now and then I get a Hard Core Christian in the class and they end up going to my Dean to complain (I do not teach religion or atheism in class, but I do not allow preaching, either) and my Dean has been wonderful in his support.

I have great sympathy for you, my friend, it can be very crazy when you get a "gang mentality" in a class going up against you.  I usually either allow the debate to go on, as a part of my teaching, or I nip it in the bud and remind them who's in charge of the class and their grade.  Usually works for me.  It can be very frustrating, and you are right those hard core christians are annoying as all hell.

Being gay, I find myself an activist, willingly, fighting for the rights that we need in life. There is one thing that grinds my gears though.

Will someone please explain to me why transgendered people get such a raw damned deal? I myself am cis-gendered, but I like to think I champion the cause. I could understand if it were just the homophobes acting this way to the trans community, but it isn't. The sad thing about this is that it's also the LGB community that does it. I only exclude the T in this circumstance because of the transphobia that is present. I think that its shameful that so many among us act so...arrogantly toward the trans-community.  How can we, being as oppressed as we are as the gay community, further oppress the trans-community?

I've always pondered the wisdom of an oppressed group oppressing someone else. The Jews helping to oppress the black community, the black community oppressing the gay community, and now the gay community oppressing the trans-community. Its dumb, arrogant, ans shameful.

Not sure hate is the right word, 'Feel superior to', might be more the case. I don't understand it either, there's nobody I wouldn't rather have a cup of tea with and call friend than hate

I have emphasized the difficulty with the above statement.  There's your problem.  My sense is that they may have many excuses and extemporaneous rationalizations, but they probably have few proper "reasons."

Putting it in a very simplistic manner, every person/group that feels repressed has a tendency to seek out another group to repress in order to feel better about their own situation.  If that makes sense.
