We'll have to think about the audio recordings, because reasoning with them isn't going to work. We've tried but these aren't reasonable people. They're disrespectful and childish, they just mouth off when we try to talk to them about it. And I don't think I want to be even MORE on their bad side. They've been in trouble by the cops before, hopefully (some day) it will sink in.

Also, legally speaking, anything said inside either house comes with an expectation of privacy, the recordings would not be usable in court. Record everything outside. Its public and bears no expectation of privacy.

Maybe I'm a teeny asshole, but there's an older woman I don't get along with that I sometimes encounter in my circle of people.  She's definitely got a case of the holier than thous, and she seems to think her own anecdotal experiences are somehow indicative of the majority, even in cases where they're the exception to the rule.  So when I heard that she was laid off from her job, a tiny part of me went ha!  If you're so much better than everyone else, why are you an unemployed crazy cat lady that lives alone?  She definitely sucks at the whole interpersonal relationships thing.  Nobody likes a know it all asshole, just sayin'.

I don't think I would go near the inside of their house anyway... Or invite them inside of mine. But I'd be willing to hide a recorder outside in hope that they'd make more BOOM's so we'd actually have some proof. But I didn't know that bit of information, that's very helpful, thank you!

(Random thought for the day: If I actually WORK on my classes, I could actually FINISH them! What a concept.)

Well I took my own advice to Kris10. I had a neighbor yesterday freak the fuck out on me. I don't know this guy at all. He's mabye late 30s looks pretty average and normal. I'd seen him 3 or 4 times around but we had never spoken. Apearently because I didn't read his mind and know he had an issue with my smoking...next to the ashtray...in the smoking area of my apartment building. Then I didn't put it out when I asked what he'd like me to do he demanded I put it out. I probly would have moved or or put it out if he'd asked but not "put it the FUCK out!" Went on a very angry triad about my ruining his clean air...inside the designated smoking area. I had been there for 10 or 15 minutes smoking before he freaked. He got agressive and hostile and I had trouble keeping my cool, especially when he got childish ie; "You just entered the dumbass awards and won first prize", but I did. Very angry VERY Childish man. My last statement to him was an ernest "I hope we meet under better circumstances in the future" His response was "go fuck yourself" So yeah.

I spoke with some of my fellow neighbors and smokers. All including myself had smoked with in 10 feet of him before and he had never made a comment to any of us or even seemed upset and I was 50 feet away when he freaked. They all thought his reaction was inapropriate and I should speak with the manager about it. My response was "no it was inapropriate but we all have bad days and mabye I was his vent." I told them "I'm gonna be a big boy and handle it like an adult before I take it to mommy"

So I saw him today and decided to see if we could come to some consensus. Be adults. Work it out I usually move down wind of non-smokers anyway (he was in the most downwind area the night before) so I didn't think it would be hard.

I learned two very important thing about my neighbor tonight. First his name is Greg. Second Greg is an ASSHOLE! I've since gone to mangement. Ironicly when I mentioned the possibility of going to the manager he responded with "fine run to mommy"

So there you go Kris10 I still think it's good advice but the results might not be what you're hoping for.

There are three points one can stop education in the UK. You have to go till you're 16 and take basic certificates. You can stay on for another two years and take advanced certificates which are used to gain access to university places if the grades are good enough for the subject and university of your choice. You then do your degree at university. You can then carry on extending your degree or do a doctorate which is what my son did, or you can leave university and do a professional qualification which is what my younger daughter did.

Most people who do advanced certificates (16-18) tend to do them because they want to go on to university, they rarely if ever do them just because they want to. When I went through the process I made the wrong choices at the basic certificate level leaving me with the wrong combination of subjects at the advanced level.

We were very careful with our kids to make sure the subjects they took at basic level didn't lock out any opportunities later. It has been quite fun to watch the twins go onto succeed so well thinking it was all their own choices that got them there  :-)
