I was watching a show about space flight and I started thnking about how far we've come which in turn led me to think about how far we have to go. For instance the speed of light is 186,000 miles per second or 669,600,000 MPH. It takes over 4.2 years to see light from our nearest neighboring star (yes light years are a measurement of distance but they use a measurement of time to calculate the those distances. Sorry premptive defence, tired of that arguement) the fastest any human craft has ever reached was 150,000 MPH and it had to use the suns gravity to do it. http://www.daviddarling.info/encyclopedia/F/fastest_spacecraft.html 150,000mph seems huge but on a galactic scale it's nearly nothing. To put it in perspective that's 1/4464th the speed of light. Or another way to think if the speed of light was only 1,000 mph our best speed would be 0.224 mph (slightly more actually) less then one quarter mph. Woo hoo burning up space. Or at our best currently possible speed it would take 166243974.745 years to reach Alpha Centauri our nearest neighboring star. That's over 166 million years. Insane.

It's trully humbling to realise how far we are from our next door neighbor let alone how small we are to the universe.

Hmm new thought how could ANYONE possible think the universe was designed for humans when it takes years just to get a probe to the nearest planets or our sun. Rediculous.

(I think I got all the math right but there were lots of digits so no promisses if you'ed like to check the math please do but post any corrections I rather the information be accurate. Oh and it all in miles so don't cry to me if you use kilometers and the numbers don't match lol)

^^^ It never ceases to amaze me when I think about this sort of thing. Humans are generally so parochial in their understanding of their physical place in the Universe.

Yesterday I wrote 10,000 words in order to complete a research paper and finish a final exam. Today I am absolutely fried. Need to recharge.  :drool

Sometimes people are rather odd and say things that they know they should not but say them anyway regardless of the hurt they cause to others I don't know why they just do and then they come back and apologise knowing deep down it won't wash the slate quite clean because what is said can't be unsaid but you forgive them but not completely cause you can't ever quite forget what was said as it hurt and while hurt may heal a scare remains.

Actually that's not quite true. My eldest daughter has asthma so she was tidy out of necessity. My other daughter was messy, stuff stroon everywhere but it was dust free as she regularly moved it around and cleaned under it. My son was messy and never cleaned, his room got filthier and filthier until he left. It took me ages to get it into a state where I could start decorating!

Indeed. I feel very accomplished when it's done though. I like having it clean, I just hate doing the work.
