Quote from: "Tom62"Only a pity that their last album was so mediocre.

Happy to see I helped bring about another Blue October fan out of you Tom, but I'm gonna go ahead and sorta disagree with you about Approaching Normal being mediocre.

My Never, Picking Up Pieces, The End, Weight of the World... There are really some amazing songs on that album. I thought it was too bad it didn't sell as well as I thought it would.

I've actually got a few more friends hooked on Blue recently off of listening to that album alone.

And I really can't wait for their next album and their next trip to Portland so I can go see them again.

Well, mediocre is indeed too strong for words.  Let's just say that I like their previous albums more than Approaching Normal. There are a couple of good songs on Approaching Normal, my favourite one is "Jump Rope", but in general I  think that they produced much better work in the past. Maybe my expectations were just set too high when the album came out. After all I had to wait 7 months for it after it was released in the USA. Due to a stupid record company decision, the European release was postponed till September last year. That really pissed me off.

But maybe you could indeed help me. On YouTube I've seen several videos of the "Argue with a Tree" live album, that are simply astounding. Are these live recordings also available on DVD? And if yes, where could I get a copy of it?

AWAT is indeed a DVD. You can purchase it here. That is straight to the band from their website. This is for the DVD/CD combo. You may have some issue shipping to Europe, and if so, I checked the UK store on the band's website and they didn't have the DVD. Amazon might have it too.

I have also found a copy that isn't so legal... but you can download it here via bit torrent. Forgive me if it is a dead torrent, I just copied the URL even though my work's firewall blocked the site, so I couldn't see details.

The DVD has some extras that are really cool. And $30 for the CD and DVD is a great deal. For my money, it doesn't get any better than watching the crowd's reaction when he sings 18th Floor Balcony at the end of the DVD. The story goes that the filmed concert was the very first time they ever played that live. It is tremendous.

Thanks! I just bought the DVD/CD combo from the band's website. So far, they didn't complain about my European shipping address  :) .

Apparently once an order has been placed, you can't cancel it. Nethertheless, I'll file an official complaint.

This morning a plane crashed into a building close to where I live.  I was told that the aircraft hit a building with blue reflective windows close to 183 and Mopac - which describes my hubby's workplace perfectly.  I had a panic attack until I found out that it was an IRS building, not his work, that was targeted by a disgruntled taxpayer.  So sad for all involved, but so relieved that Jess is okay.

I'm glad your hubby is ok. Any word on whether anyone else was hurt? (Other than the pilot, of course.)

i think my brain is broken. ive been having trouble thinking clearly... and i find it (harder than useual, to care about things im thinking of) hard to care about subjects. im not loosing interest in hobbies or anything else that interested me before, just i dunno....
its kind of like i cant be bothered with thinking seriously about many topics on this forum and the think tank. so i find myself recently in the relaxation tank, and the laid back lounge, ect... or just typing whatever nonsince pops into my head and not even really thinking about what im typing. like a drawn out thought that i know is going no where. but it also creeps into my life. ive started spacing out in conversations and am far less patient with ideas and opinions. at my job i couldnt remember essential numbers that i use just about every time i come out here. so i check them, and forget them as soon as i look away from the paper. its like when someone asks you what time it is and you look at your watch and forget what time it is as soon as you look at the person.
today is the first ive officially thought of it. we will see if it continues tomorrow. it had best not..
maybe im stressed.... yeah that sounds good. fuck it...

on a good note, when i go home me and my g/f are getting really drunk in a postponed celebration. i greatly look forward to this and im feeling a inner turn inside of me heading towrds emoness and warm fuzzies... so if for some reason you have read this far (ha you must be bored to read this incoherent rambling) i will spare you that.

^ Maybe more sleep would help? Or a career change? I got like that after getting jaded working in the video games industry. I left it to work for an internet company. Much better.

Today, I started a trading journal. I'm going to write down the reasons why I make all my trades, and analyze how they each turn out. I wrote up the position I opened on Friday and the three I'll open when trading starts tomorrow.

i think it was catching up on some sleep and staying caffinated for a while that caused the fix. a career change sounds great but... its not an option at this point.
i was always insterested in the video game industry. i like to draw and make up things and characters and sometimes ill even write stories. but i suck with computers. i almost whent to school online for a degree in video game design but... it cost way to much money. now they just harrass me with emails and phone calls once every two weeks. i had to give the guy his own ring tone to avoid hearing how great my life could be if i did all this and spent all my money on it.

Well, it's all in a norwegian. Something you probably you wouldn't understand.

I got a bonus. It's quite a lot but there's nothing I want to own right now, not even cash. Now I have to figure out what the hell to do with it.
