Quote from: "Godless"To avoid getting realm downs you have to increase the time the bot waits in the lobby after exiting a game. Realm downs only happen if you create games too fast. I'm only using the plain bot right now because botting cows probably won't yield that many good drops. Right now I do Pindleskin, Eldritch, Shenk, Baal, Mephisto, and Andariel for both bots and I'm getting pretty decent stuff. For my charms, I use 40% MF Gheeds, Torch, and Anni for both of my characters. I don't really feel like making a Smiter, because if I have my bots kill the guys who drop keys then I find that my stash and inventory fill up way too fast with keys and therefore I have no room to pick up other items. Besides, I feel like it's too much of a hassle to save up keys and keep on killing Ubers.

Yeah I used to wait 30 seconds between rounds to avoid getting relmed ... never worked really well.  I also did public Chaos/Baal runs since the exp was there.  The crazy cow level gives you crazy drops and the cow bot was supposedly designed so you didn't kill cow king.  I forgot about the Anni.  My buddy jrev got me all that stuff starting out.  Those keys you get take up a ton of inventory I know, I used to have 2 key mules.  When you make the smiter you can do Organ runs (almost on your own) and then of course the torch run.  I think one organ set went for the same price as 3 key sets which sucked, but if you don't ID the torch you could sell it for more FG then what you would probably get from it.

Quote from: "Will"I play a couple times a year. I don't really make time for it, so it doesn't happen often. When it does happen, though, I'm serious. How serious? I play Starcraft. Against South Koreans. And I win quite often. I came up with a strategy about 10 years ago called the "scout rush", which people tend to have a lot of trouble with. I also have a knack for cannons.

Do you know what a "build order" is? If so, do you have the build order for this strategy?

PM me if you still have the game and want to play on BattleNet.

This is one of the funniest kills I've ever seen.  Modern Warfare 2 for the win!

I got the Heavy Rain demo a little early and have done a write-up on it. Full video of the demo and high-res screenshots.

There's no way I have time for an MMO these days... but let me know how it is!

I used to play a lot of WoW and was in a "hardcore" endgame guild, but that was about four years ago.

Is anyone planning on getting Bioshock 2 tomorrow?  I heard the single person play is pretty lame, that they focused more on the multi-player aspects of the game.

The game is fun.  Space combat is a lot of fun since you have a lot of stuff you need to do at once.  Full space environment where you can do almost anything (except go upside down for some reason) you have 4 parts to your shields (left, right, forward, and rear) and when you battle someone you try to hit them where their shields are weakest (or down) while having them hit you where your shields are the strongest.  Certain weapons do more damage to shields and some do more to the hull.  I really like the space combat system.  The ground system is okay.  Reminds me a lot of KOTOR except no pause (and that not entirely true).  Both combat systems offer PvP which is great.  Also you can train and upgrade your various officers and they will be able to assist you in battle depending no their type.  Tactical officers typically give you high damage moves like firing multiple torpedoes or overloading your weapons array to fire a massive burst.  Engineering officers help you with your ship such as diverting power to weapons, shields or engines and speeding up your repair rate.  Science officers give you the funky abilities in the games including jamming the enemy ships so they can't target you, healing allies, disabling enemies shields, weapons, and engines etc.  Also each officers brings something unique to the ground game.  My engineer runs in front of us and drops mines on the ground so when some idiot charges us they blow up and kill him.  My tactical officers tends to disable enemies (stuns them) and my science officer can heal or (I retrained mine) to do a ton of AoE damage.

What I don't like is how you get exp.  It takes so much exp to level up and you get next to none for combat.  You have to do quests if you want to level up.  I guess it gets rid of the grind.  Also they say the game has spectacular graphics however I have some error with my video card and can't get them.  When I first went to the game it says I needed to update my video card.  Since i'm on a laptop I went to the HP website and did that pain in the ass process and upgraded my card but I still have the same problem ...  So I don't know what is up with it.

The only other down side is that typical missions will take you like an hour to complete.  They typically go like this [Fly over to a designated area 2 minutes away from where you spawn in at and scan something.  Fight some enemies.  Fly to another section of the map and fight some enemies.  Warp to a different map and fight some more enemies. Fly around and fight even more enemies. Beam to a secret base or to a planets surface and fight enemies while looking for certain objects.  Once you spend 15 minutes doing that return to your ship and fight some more enemies.  Mission complete you get 50 exp[about 1/10 of what you need to level])  I'm currently working to get Lieutenant Rank 11 (essentially level 11) I should get a promotion to Lieutenant Commander and finally get a new ship and get rid of the newb ship.

Thats just for federation characters.  I have a Klingon Character.  The Klingon faction must have been an after thought for them since the only way you can currently level as a Klingon is through PvP combat.  (Missions are faster for exp btw)  You basically are given level 6 when you make a Klingon character (which is the minimum level to PvP) and are unleashed.  From what I can gather it is the same type of system, you need level 11 to get a new ship and get rid of your newb bird of prey.

Also if you bought a lifetime subscription or a 1 year subscription you can play as the borg.  I did not do that so I currently am borgless.  I don't see PvP with the borg so I am unsure what is done with them.

I just read the IGN review on STO. It sounds pretty fun - maybe I'll check it out if they ever have a free trial.

Well if you pay the $50 for the game you get the first month free.  They may do what WoW has done and do the free trials eventually but who knows.  Something cool about the game I don't think I mentioned is that there is only 1 server and everything is heavily instanced.  So you can enter some areas and if you don't like the group you are with you can change instances and look for a better group ^_^  Also there is next to no lag.  The only times I have lag is when I enter a map with a ton of objects (like 10 million tiny asteroids) and the only place where my ground has lagged is at Memory Alpha (basically where u go and upgrade stuff).

EVE online is similar in that it only has the single server. It is pretty neat as there are roughly 40,000 people logged on at any given hour of the day. It forced corporations (guilds) that wanted to hold onto sectors of space to recruit members from across the globe in different time zones as to be able to protect your corporate assets at each hour of the day. A novel idea imo.

EVE also has an entirely player run economy - I used to get lost in that game.

Glad to see there's another EVE player here. How long have you been playing Poison?

Here's the thing that separates EVE from just about every other mmorpg.  In most of them, the people who do the best are the people who grind or quest the most.  However, in EVE, the people who get rich are the most intelligent people, the people who had the most ingenious ideas.  You have to study the game and study the people who play the game if you want to get rich and powerful.

I played for about eight months and then life happened. That was roughly ten months ago.
How about you? I remember being excited about a few of the upcoming expansions back then. Did they ever implement the avatars? (So that you can get out of your ship.) If so, how is it?

Played for about 6 months, then took a break for a few months, then just recently got back into it.  Still no avatars, even though a new expansion came out less than a month ago ( Ppl who make the best games generally fail at finishing stuff very quick.)
