i suck at reading nonfiction, so im only maybe... halfway through with the book. but from what ive read all but the religion kills chapter is really good.
where do you get the ninja smiles? of course if i used them i would give you full credit and royalties.
my avatar is available in the site avatar selections. i tried to make my own but i couldnt make it small enough, so i said fuck it. and this avatar seemed to explain my lack of an avatar perfectly. i suppose it is kinda distracting... flashy and what not. but i guess that way people wont miss my posts... for better or worse

I saw the "Book of Eli" the other day and couldn't help but think:

[spoiler:1py6mwb2]If there was only one bible left, and God inspired a blind man to remember it, couldn't God try to get it right this time? Maybe leave out the parts condoning slavery, homophobia, and stoning children. It was a perfect opportunity to fix everything ridiculous about the book - though I guess if you were to take out all of the absurdity you wouldn't be left with much.[/spoiler:1py6mwb2]

Anyone else see the movie? I found it entertaining, despite the layers of nacho cheese covering the premise.

Yeah I've seen it as well. I found the premise for the movie to be well the opposite of what would happen in reality.
[spoiler:37zkqvdm]I mean how many religious people do you know would destroy their bibles rather then griping them even tighter. It seems like there would be alot of doomsday cults after an apocalyse rather religion dying off all together.[/spoiler:37zkqvdm]

Yea, I didn't really enjoy the Religion Kills chapter either, it was too loaded. It's like he was trying to fit too much information into too small a space. That could have been a separate book entirely. I'm reading the chapter about the New Testament at the moment and am thoroughly enjoying it.

ive you tubed christopher hitchens as well recently and i really enjoy his speeches. Lol i record music through my computer and made an instrumental song and used a few of his speeches and interviews as the vocals.
as for what i read almost anything, but i prefer fiction. my left brain punks my right i guess. black monday was good, as was the road. that was a movie (that i havent seen yet) and black monday SHOULD be made into a movie. are you mainly a non fiction reader?

Those remixes you've put together sound like they must be awesome. I've heard what I think would be something similar done with dialogue from the movie Independence Day to an Infected Mushrooms song.
I still prefer watching Dawkins interviews to Hitchens ones. Hitchens is just so...angry I suppose is the ideal word. Dawkins seems more approachable for theists. Though I suppose my opinion is warped since I've always been an atheist.

If I remember correctly, Black Monday also has an apocalyptic theme going, like The Road right? You would probably like Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood then. Awesome read. Anything to do with the end of the world (or the end of the world as we know it... to resort to clichés) fascinates me. I wish I had a better tolerance for gore, then the masses of zombie movies floating around would amaze me.

Check out Peter Watts' Rifters trilogy (Starfish, Maelstrom, Behemoth). Very good apocalyptic sci-fi written by a professor of marine biology.

im all for talent and burning up fret boards, but it seems to me that they were MUCH better when they played the most basic and simple stuff. then they released an album that i mistook for stone sour... and now they suck. more than before.

A local SA band called the Dirty Skirts played on campus today. Didn't hang around too long because it's kinda boring to watch live music when you know absolutely no one and everyone around you is about five years your junior, but they sounded a lot like the Parlotones (don't know if that name is known internationally yet). Either way, not amazing, though they had one or two radio hits. The whole band was oozing Fender sponsorship. All three guitarists (the vocalist has a guitar which he uses about twice, w00h00) were Strats. Just to prove that they all want to look and sound the same.
