As for getting a Wii, it's been about 4 years now, hasn't it? Shouldn't they be releasing new consoles pretty soon?

I thought next-gen consoles all came out in 07 ... that should be 2 pushing 3.  Anyway I don't know about the latest consoles in development.  Besides just because something is old doesn't mean it isn't fun.... which reminds me of this Katt Williams segment.

If you do get a wii House of the Dead Overkill is the best game the wii has. Im sure many people will tell you its REALLY short, easy, mindless, and there isn’t enough guns. But if you play it when your drunk turning a zombie into a bloody massed pulp is very satisfying. Also it takes forever to beat because you take about a million bathroom breaks (all depending on your bladder size of course). The screen navigates for you so all you have to do is shoot. But depending on levels of intoxication a head shot can be challenging.

And the final deciding factor is… name me another game where a man climbs into a vagina. Nope not a one. Hands down House of the Dead Overkill is the best wii game ever!!

Quote from: "Whitney"Hey T&T, welcome to HAF....you sound quite busy.

What kind of video games, I have an xbox but am purely a recreational gamer.  My huband is very serious about his game play.  We have a video game thread here:  viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2932 (which I just stickied :) )

Ahhh, I found it! Yes, Whitney, I am quite busy nowadays. Not that I don't like it, but I just hate being unproductive, so I'll try me best to keep myself occupied.

As for video games, I currently own a PS3, and love it. I have KZ2, LittleBigPlanet, MGS4, Uncharted 2 (awesome game btw),  Batman and Demon's Souls. I'm currently working on DS, and that game is freakin tough! There are no save points in the entire game, so if you die working your way through the stages to get to the boss and die, you have to start from the beginning of the level, which is grueling at times. Either way, the game is a blast and I suggest any RPG fan to at least try it.

As a reply to the posts above me, next-gen systems won't be coming out until 2012.

It's definitely one you need to buy, not rent. I can see myself putting a hundred hours into the game, easy. I'm actually considering writing a paper on Demon's Souls (shouldn't it be Demons' Souls? that's bothered me for a while), doing a sort of journey analysis from start to finish, looking at it from a connectivist perspective via the distributed knowledge aspect of the messages and whatnot. Might be fun. Something to do over winter break. Who knows.

Welcome. :)

We should do a Modern Warfare 2 live party sometimes. I know that I'll be at the bottom of the kills board, but who cares?

Miss Anthrope

I'm an avid gamer in theory. I just don't have much time to play games that much, and it saddens me because I love gaming. I have a huge back catalogue of games to finish (from old DOS games to Sega Saturn to modern PC games). I will never finish all of the games I want to in my lifetime.

I like lists, so here's a little list of some classic games I would recommend, especially to some younger gamers who missed the old DOS and/or console days:

-Any classic LucasArts adventure (Monkey Island series, Full Throttle, The Dig, Grim Fandango, Sam & Max): If there was ever a company that approached perfection in the medium, it was 90's-era LucasArts with their point-and-click adventures. You could always count on fantastic art, music, voice acting, puzzle design, writing...their games were always a pleasure to play and always gave me a feeling that games I had played up until that point never did: the same feeling i got from delving into a great novel.

-Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (Playstation)

-Tomba! (Playstation)

-Treasure games - From the classic Gunstar Heroes on Sega Genesis to the addicitive Bangai-O on Dreamcast, Treasure always took classic gameplay conventions and "awesomized" them

-The Twinsen Series (DOS and Win95) - From French developer Adeline, "Relentless:Twinsen's Adventure" and "Twinsen's Odyssey" stand out as two of the games I remember most fondly from my teenage years. Very much inspired by Zelda gameplay mechanics; very few games have ever absorbed my attention the way they did ("Twinsen's Odyssey" still stands as the only game I actually played for a full two days straight, only stopping to sleep and use the bathroom)
How big is the smallest fish in the pond? You catch one hundred fishes, all
of which are greater than six inches. Does this evidence support the hypothesis
that no fish in the pond is much less than six inches long? Not if your
net can’t catch smaller fish. -Nick Bostrom

Is anybody else currently playing Tekken 6?  I like it, but I don't think its as good as Tekken Dark Resurrection.
Warning! Gentle pressure may be applied for a more positive outlook.

I really hope GT5 is as good as it should be after 10 years of development. I'm a sucker for driving games and i really want it to be amazing. Hopefully it will be good enough to warrant me buying a PS3 :)
