No, I don't mean complaining. I scored some wine glasses and decided to drink wine instead of beer for some time. Any suggestions on it? I don't drink wine very often but it seems to be a lot slower in consumption than beer (college style at least).

I suppose the best thing to do would be to find out what your tastes are. Maybe over time get one of each major type of wineâ€"cabernet sauvignon, champagne, chardonnay, merlot, pinot noir, rose, sauvignon blanc, and zinfandelâ€".

The first wine I ever really liked was a pinot noir. The next time you're having turkey (say... Thanksgiving), head over to a respectable liquor establishment and ask for a decent pinot noir. I wouldn't suggest spending over $20 for a bottle.
I want bad people to look forward to and celebrate the day I die, because if they don't, I'm not living up to my potential.

Different people like different wines. I personally like Riesling and Gewürztraminer. Some vineyards do tastings of 4-5 different wines for a reasonable price and the people that work in those places are often quite knowledgeable.

Spoken like a true connoisseur. :)

I had to stop drinking wine. For some reason, even a glass gives me a blasting headache the next day. I'm not sure why but i guess it is my body telling me something. I should listen to my body. It's hugely unfortunate though. I love a good Merlot.

We're big fans of Beringer White Merlot... full-bodied like a Merlot but a dark clear red color and smooth, without the tannins of a red.  Highly recommend with red meat and pork.

We also love their White Zin PVS (Premiere Vineyard Selection).  It's not NEARLY as sweet as their regular White Zin and is a darker color.  Goes very nicely with chicken and fish.

Enjoy!

I think it all depends on the brand.  I like flavorful wine so my gf and I stick with Arbor Mist.  They have all sorts of different ones.  We also like a wine thats hard to find.  Shes from Iowa and in her area the Amish make a blackberry wine which is great.  They give out samples so we like their blackberry wine and their lovers wine (which is like a cranberry and something else type of wine). We can't find even find those flavors in our area.

If you are going for cheap....we buy the boxed wines.  I prefer red wines dry or sweet (depending on my mood).  Merlot is good.  Sangria is good if you want something sweet and flavorful....and you can layer it into a margarita if you want to be fancy.  If I'm picking out a bottle of wine I look for funny names....

If I drink red wine I often put it into a normal glass instead of a wine glass; it's harder to knock over a normal glass.  I"m obviously very classy  ;)

My friends and I occasionally (rarely) meet for drinks at a wine bar.  They only serve wine at this place, and since I don't really drink wine I was stuck drinking water all night.  So, I bought a few cheap bottles of wine at the grocery store and sampled them at home.  The Pino Grigio is the only one I like.  Red wine makes me gag.

I'd rather have The Glenlivet Single Malt Scotch.  Mmmmm.....

I am scotch. Or rather Scottish. It's called whisky! Thank you. Glenlivet isn't bad at all. My favorite is Laphroaig.

My favorites are Ardbeg, Laphroaig and Lagavulin, but I also love good wine and beer. My favorite wines are from France (Bordeaux and Bourgogne (Burdundy)) and my favorite beers from Belgium (Duvel, Trappist, etc.)

Glenlivet Scotch Whisky.  You are correct.  Shame on me.  Sometimes my fingers don't do as they're told.

Chianti and Pinot Noir are great to me.....I drank an entire bottle and feel buzzed. Much better than beer!
