Quote from: Icarus on February 24, 2026, 11:17:32 PMI stumbled across this video that tells it like it is.  We Americans, with our heads up our collective asses, have failed to pay attention.  Our fearless leader with his imbecilic behavior has cost us dearly.

This is a 20 minute video that is realistic with bad news for us all.

The information is realistic and we'll see how it plays out. I didn't want to subject myself to 20 minutes of an AI video bot, so read and skimmed the transcript. Canada is trying to protect itself against the tariff idiocy of Trump, and I hope it goes well for them. Not sure though how much damage that will do in the long run to the US.

However, if enough countries follow a similar path it's going to be rougher sailing for a while.

I haven't had my head up my ass.  >:(  I've seen with my own eyes all the criminal idiocy being perpetrated by the chump and his henchmen. I have some real schadenfreude watching the MAGAts when they complain about the face-eating leopards coming for them.

Icarus

Today he has seriously shit in our American mess kits. Gone to war with Iran?  Yes !!!!  With approval
from congress ? NO !!!!  Capricious, irresponsible, stupid, exercise of executive power?  Yes !

How will the NATO nations respond.....................?

Does the demented clown still believe that he was unfairly denied the Nobel peace prize?

Just one more block out of the geopolitical Jenga game, where the US will continue to lose support.

As I write it's the eve of the 2026 election. What shenanigans will we see? How will the Trumpist crew react to the drubbing they're pretty much guaranteed to get?

not hard to guess

california will have millions of undocumented aliens voting.

china will hack the voting machines.

democrats will stuff ballot boxes and lose republican votes.

alaska wii seat an american indian by confusing voters as to who is runnjng

the democrats will lie, cheat, and steal.

i have ^^^all this on good authority from trump himself.

to counter this the heroic and long-suffering republicans will file lawsuits disputi g elections, possobly seize voting machines and ballot boxez, send ICE to polling places to keep the brown people at bay, and attempt to de-certify the results at congress to prevent the democrats from being sworn in.

i predict a repeat of 06 january.

I was beginning to think someone hijacked Billy.  :D

to be honest, i think the certification process is the most vulnerable. they already know that they can get away with it, and they have nothing to lose. i think alaska is the obvious first target, but i anticipate other states as well.

i truly think that this is going to be a mess, whether its a democrat blowut or not.

i wish the democrats were better than they are, though.

the radical leftists carried the american midterm elections.

the moderates are already attempting to re-cast the results as an affirmation of democratic-politics-as-usual, and will soon begin telling the progressives to know their place and learn from their leaders. obama is announcing that the results mean americans want a government that will bring people together.  actually, i dont want to be brought together with the bat-shit crazy racist hate-mongers-- i want them expelled from power.

alternatively, if the progressives get the support from their people that they appear to have earned, we might get sme real change.

day one. force the release of the epstein files. all of them

day two. defund ICE.

day three. annual tax on wealth. not income-wealth.

day four. nationalize spacex and starshield

day five?

I think we can depend on the Democratic Party to squander this in their usual disappointing way. Proudly bringing a white feather to a knife fight. There are some with fire but the current leadership is consistently lame. Still, any potential Trump nominee for the US Supreme Court seems to be a dead letter.

Nonetheless, the "rigged and stollen" election narrative isn't getting any play. Despite overt partisan gerrymandering initiated by the felon president, voters have spoken in an undeniable fashion. My tendency to temper optimism with realism (as above) aside, the result shows that MAGA doesn't have a stranglehold on the US.  :yes!:

This guy articulates the issue. Both Chuck Schumer, who leads the Democratic Party in the US Senate, and Hakeem Jeffries, who leads the Democrats in the House of Representatives, have proven themselves inadequate to the challenge presented by the Trump regime. It seems likely to me that they'll continue doing the same.  :sadnod:

QuoteAt a moment when the country desperately needs an opposition party capable of confronting Trump with urgency, clarity, and conviction, Schumer has too often seemed like a man waiting for the Senate to return to the collegial atmosphere of 1997.

His willingness to entertain the possibility that Trump might somehow become more cooperative, more reasonable, or more interested in bipartisan governance is not merely naive. It's an astonishing failure to recognize the political reality staring everyone in the face. And, both he and Jeffries accept major donations from PAC's.

How many times must someone demonstrate exactly who they are before Washington's leadership class stops pretending a transformation is just around the corner? Or worse. Completely ignores the demand for transformation of any kind?

Trump isn't waiting for an invitation to a bipartisan luncheon. He understands power, confrontation, and the advantages of an opposition that spends half its time worrying about whether it sounds too confrontational.

Schumer's instinct to preserve institutional norms might have made sense in an era when both parties generally agreed those norms were worth preserving. But, after billions in bit coin, an insurrection, illegal wars, a Justice Dept. that does the president's personal bidding, and trying to tamper with our elections on an hourly basis, those norms are out the window.

[. . .]

Jeffries is articulate, disciplined, and unquestionably skilled at navigating the Democratic caucus. But those qualities alone do not make someone the right person to lead a political movement through an extraordinary national crisis. The crisis of being ruled by the most criminally corrupt administration in history. And the new crisis of a possible Speaker who, in the immediate aftermath of the historic rebuke of the Mar-A-Lago Mafia, went on national television and said ""The American people don't want us to get even. They want us to get things done on their behalf, because life is way too expensive." He could not be more wrong. Or clueless.

A Democratic victory should be an opportunity to rethink the party's leadership, priorities, and approach to power. Instead, the conversation seems focused on maintaining continuity.

Continuity with what, though, exactly?
The inability to communicate a compelling national message? The endless obsession with avoiding political risk? The reflexive deference to consultants who seem perpetually terrified that a forceful response might offend an imaginary undecided voter in suburban Pennsylvania?

Democrats need to understand something fundamental: The voters aren't demanding a return to business as usual. We are demanding that somebody finally do something.

[. . .]

Democrats have been handed an incredible opportunity at an amazing moment in our history. Whether they turn that opportunity into lasting reform, or another exercise in institutional self-preservation, remains to be seen.
