Re: What movie and song best describes your life? Why?

The movie to describe the essence of my life (and how I hope it will eventually climax) will have to be Steven Spielberg's pinnacle masterpiece, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Because it's simple storyline follows the life path of a strange being who yearns for his home and someone to reach out to him before he perishes on a foreign terrain, and enters the life of a child who is yearning for another to reach out to him and save his life from going down a dark path. Thus they save each other without at first being fully aware of such, especially the former one. The more deeply I "read" into what this movie is about the more deeply I love it. It inspiried me to strive to make my dreams come true and to just keep holding onto to what I still have to love about life.

The song to go with it is "Love Lives On" which is the theme from the movie Harry and the Hendersons which is interestingly similar in its storytelling to E.T. but still a different one, about a family discovering, and befriending, and ultimately rescuing the legendary Bigfoot. The aforementioned theme song goes perfectly with E.T.'s story's theme, and also inspires me with the same things as its movie always will.
"We are of the Universe. No Gods Needed."

"Your Mind is a Garden. Your Thoughts are the Seeds. You Can Grow Flowers or You Can Grow Weeds."

"Always Remember Your Current Situation is Not the Final Destination. The Best is Yet to Come."

Icarus

Wogglebug, yours is a pleasing response with deep philosophic overtones. I think that I am going to like your style. We do have some admirable thinkers here on HAF.

Ain't that a bitch? We have a bunch of dreadful atheists who have what is almost surely a commendable proportion of human kindness built into their psyche. Go figure.

Different movies represent different stages in my life.

Miss Congeniality.
I was raised by two men, so I was a tomboy.

What About Bob?
I was a wreck after I realized that being feminine was not going to be easy.

Living with my husband's family  for the past 13 or 14 years has been like:
My Family.

Jimmy, (in the middle) is just like my husband, he's my Vato loco, I love him. He looks and acts like him, and I'm (Isabel) the crazy Salvadoran he married--but not for a green card.:D  In the movie, the narrator says, "Isabel was probably the first person who didn't let Tony boss her around." That's how his family feels about me, and they're very thankful for it.  :D

The first question in my head was "which one is Jimmy Smits?" -- you lucky kitty.

Jimmy Smits was Jimmy. He's that handsome devil in the middle of the picture.  ;)

By the way, it's nice to see you posting again, I've missed you.  :-*

On a nasty-ass day like today?

Movie: Donnie Darko, I guess. At least I could relate quite well when I was younger.

Thanks, I was feeling overwhelmed the last month or so and decided to take a bit of a break.  Probably spending too much time online anyway.

Re: Jimmy Smits.  I've had a giggly crush on him since his L. A. Law days.  Did you see his season as the big bad on Dexter?  I really enjoyed that.

About spending too much time online, I know what you mean. I've tried to stay away from the forum, but it's difficult. Sometimes I wish Tank would ban me because that's the only way I would be able to stay away from this place.  :D

Re: Jimmy Smits, I know what you mean about having a giggly crush on him.  ;D Sometimes I would see L.A. Law, but not that much. I did enjoy Jimmy's performance in the movie Old Gringo.

I forgot to mention that I never saw Dexter. I like Jimmy, but I think you like him more than I do.  :D

Erk Jimmy Smits, what kind of name is that anyway.
I enjoyed his plastic wrap Dexter episode.

Yes, The Asmo just manipulates Tank to fix His account when He needs some honest to Asmo rebirthing. Has been known to happen.

I could commit forum suicide, but Gerry has convinced me that there's an afterlife and I'm afraid I'll come back as a Satanist and end up in a place like 600 club with a name like, Mephistopheles.

I could do that, or this:

Yeah, Raul Julia was one hell of an actor and, from what I've read, a really nice guy too.  But he's dead and Jimmy's alive.  I  can't giggle over dead guys, that just feels weird.
