Is it weird that I feel uncomfortable when people like me?

When people like me I feel like I am obligated to maintain that friendship. It's like, when I am around people, I know that I have the ability to try hard and develop solid respect from them. What the problem is is that that wears me out. I feel like unless I can build people's respect organically I feel like I am forcing myself to not be myself around others. It's like, I wish there was a way that I could organically be myself without having to push myself to be someone who I'm not.

We all play our roles in society. Some are better actors than others, some like it more than others, but we all do it.

Adaptability, it's a nice trait to have.

Groucho Marx has something to say about this: "Sincerity is the most important thing.  If you can fake that, you've got it made."

I've slid on shite before, it's not as bad as it sounds, and sometimes you make others laugh in the process.
