Jackson Pollock is another of my favorites

He is also one of my favourites as well. There was a good section on him in the BBC science program "the code" which looked at the fractal nature of his paintings. link: Marcus du Sautoy explains the fractal nature of Pollock's paintings .

When I was a kid a Labor government bought a Pollock, Blue Poles to much ridicule.  Jack The Dripper has a place in the political history of my country.  When the conservatives took government they didn't sell the painting, it had quadrupled or whatever in value.  It had played it's part.

The U.S. Postal Service issued a stamp with this picture of Pollock however they photoshopped the siggy out of his mouth.
What posessed them to do that? It isn't really an ad for the smokes brand unless you can actually SEE the brand, now is it?

You mean artists have unhealthy habits? *gasp*

I like William Bougereau even though I have never personally seen one of his paintings.  This one is called "Evening Mood":

Always question all authorities because the authority you don't question is the most dangerous... except me, never question me.

I recommend M.C. Escher, H.R. Giger and Salvador Dali.

This may cause an outrage, but I've always thought that Dali is a bit over-rated.  :P
