I take it you like the novel " The Pillars of the Earth". I love that book, I refused to read it for years because of its subject nature but I am glad that I changed my mind as it truly is brilliant.

I always thought this one was funny

hahaha that's great.
One would have to be a 'Basket Case' to live there! I'll get my coat.

Have you seen the TV series?

Yeah I enjoyed it, even though it was almost a totally different story I still thought it was good. Though I can't remember how the TV series ended.

Whitney, that's funny!

Yes, I've read The Pillars Of The Earth, but not seen the TV version.  Follet has quite a way of getting across the feel of medieval life from the minutiae and not from great historic events.  I've read another similar one of his; can't remember the title.

I've added The Pillars of the Earth to my Christmas list  :D

Here's some more Romanesque.  This is the W door of Leominster Priory, built around 1150 by the same school of masons that did the Kilpeck S door above.

The shot is by a profoundly disabled man in my charity.

BTW there is something very, very unusual about this doorway.  Can anyone spot it?  It's plain to see, not a tiny detail.

Is it the shape of the stones on the middle column arch. Is that a green man on the left inner archway?

Shape ... you're right, but you need to be more precise.   ;D

Green Man - yes indeed, but that's not very unusual.  I've got quite a lot of Green Man shots from Herefordshire churches.

Here's a closer shot of that one, by me:

Good eye, Crow. I would've never spotted it  :o

Anyways, gothic beats romanesque in my view...

Bigger windows and doors, higher walls, ya know? ;D
