Quote from: "MariaEvri"what would be a one-liner "comeback" to a friend who says she doesn;t believe evolution?

I generally look at them like they just told me they believe the moon is made of cheese.

Buy them "Why Evolution is True" by Jerry Coyne
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Why-Evolution-T ... 0199230846

Aimed at the 'un-believer' but a lot less patronising and polemical than Dawkin's The greatest Show on Earth.
If religions were TV channels atheism is turning the TV off.
"Religion is a culture of faith; science is a culture of doubt." ― Richard P. Feynman
'It is said that your life flashes before your eyes just before you die. That is true, it's called Life.' - Terry Pratchett
Remember, your inability to grasp science is not a valid argument against it.

Medical science rules!  They took my gall bladder out yesterday, making just three little holes, and I'm already home today!  Everybody was praying for me, which I don't mind unless I need actual help from them, then I ask for actual help.  There was one atheist nurse there, so that was nice that there was someone to talk to me about the cold, hard, facts instead of the mythical.

Disgustipated... "...the cries of the carrots! You see, Reverend Maynard, tomorrow is harvest day..."
Always question all authorities because the authority you don't question is the most dangerous... except me, never question me.

Asmodean

Last autumn, I wrote a massive poem about autumn and my personal relationships... Death and beauty, in other words. Can't seem to get it out of my head today for some reason. And the thing is over thirty bloody verses long...  :| Here, have one:

 ****
The last rays of sun set the clouds ablaze with myriad colors
A golden leaf releases its fragile hold
Once we looked to the sun, like the long wilted flowers
Now we drift, just like leaves, to be drowned in the sea of gold
****

Animals have defense mechanisms, whether that is teeth or claws or camouflage or even just the ability to run, swim, or fly from predators, yet they have a human voice, PETA, to stand up for their rights.

I say we at HAF should lend our voice to those who do not have one of their own.  We should fight for those who cannot stand up and fight for themselves.  We should fight for the rights of vegetables!  Little Johnny Cabbage just sits there waiting helplessly to be plucked by the V8-thirsty masses.  You should see the despicable, torturous process by which carrot juice is extracted from a carrot!  You'd never eat a salad again if you only knew!  I'd rather go naked than wear cotton!

The list of people around here I wouldn't mind doing is getting longer  :sigh: )
