Statue of Jesus blasted by lightening

Maybe this is old news, but it's fun...

A huge statue of Jesus was struck by lightening and incinerated. Of course, the "believers" plan to rebuild, not the least bit curious about why their god did not intervene.

Yeah, I saw this in the news awhile back.

i thought the same thing. If god directs every bolt of lightning, like it says in the bible, why would he strike and destroy himself?

York Minster was struck be lightning just after some guy preached about taking the bible too seriously. The irony was not lost on the population as a whole! lol

Maybe god just thought they made his nose look to big.
If someone made a statue of me, and my nose looked too big, I'd smite it.

And what did they make it out of? Fibreglass or paper-mache?

Someone may have mentioned this on the other thread about touchdown jesus, so I apologize in advance. The original statue cost churchgoers $400,000. The new one will be $700,000. How Christ-like of them to waste that kind of money on a ridiculous lightning rod, rather than feed the hungry that are quite numerous in that area.

No one seems to be mentioning the obvious here. The "Christians" don't even follow their own ten commandments unless it "commands" something they agree with.

Beat me to it, I was about to say something about this. When brought up how hilarious it is that a natural phenomenon, the likes of which are usually attributed to god's wrath, destroyed a religious landmark, this is exactly how a Christian type would respond. Clearly, god didn't like this particular graven image and saw fit to set his children straight. But since God doesn't go around smiting every giant statue of himself, I'm more inclined to align with Magic Pudding's hypothesis. They got the nose wrong, obviously.
