Quote from: "Ihateyoumike"I wonder why people continue to feed the obvious trolls who aren't interesting in any way?

You know,.. you made this post which is, in itself, potential Troll food! (Impressively ironic) Therefore, I'm wagering that you don't really peg me for a Troll. That would be illogical, Captain.

One word: Trolliphobia

Well of course the sort of obnoxious, self-serving individual one would avoid in real life just looks like a troll on-line. A person may not be an active troll i.e. behaving in a duplicitous manner just for shits and giggles, they might just be one of natures natural arseholes. One couldn't tell the difference on-line. Therefore the accusation of trolling is very difficult to prove because one has to divine intent behind behaviour. So what one has to do is just ignore intent and concentrate on behaviour. If a person un-intentionally behaves like a troll then they are not the sort of person I would want to share a forum with anyway. So kick the fucker off. If a person can't engage in a civil manner they really have no place on this forum. There are plenty of forums out there which tolerate and sometimes encourage appalling behaviour and manners. Variety is good, choice is good, so it's great to have a place like HAF that really doesn't care why one does what they does but simply demands a type of behaviour that generally suits good manners and civil discourse rather than poorly disguised flame wars.

I can see your point. However, the idea that one can remotely determine actual real life behaviors from what another posts on line, seems a bit dodgey. Conversely, I would think that real actual life behaviors could be employed as at least a somewhat useful predictor of online behaviors.

As a side note, I have never met anyone that isn't self-serving to some extent, therefore, I don't necessarily see that particular behavioral aspect as an actual character flaw. If it is a flaw, then it's a universally human flaw. Perhaps you were thinking in terms of extreme self-serving behavior. If that's the case, then I withdraw my assertion on the point.

Agreed.

Well, there you have it then. Except, I thought you just recommended that one should simply starve a troll, un-intentional or not. :hmm:

Of course, excepting for the use of gratuitous curse words and arbitrary character judgements. I see. Thank you for clearing that up.

Lately I have been thinking about future changes in socialization and how I will react to them. My boyfriend is an atheist, neatly aligned with my ideologies, but I don't really know anyone else in person who is as well. I couldn't really see myself being super close with someone who was especially religious, which may be close-minded but I never claim to be entirely fair ;)

Bleh.

At 9pm I was driving into the estate where I live having collected the OH from the station. There's a dog loose walking down the path beside the road, no sign of an owner. I stop the car by the dog which comes around the car to see me. No collar, trail wagging furiously. It's on old grey muzzled black Staffordshire bull terrier. So we bring it home and long story short we contact police, owner contacted police. Dog returned to owner at 11:30. Turns out the parents have left their three teen kids at home for the evening, and they lost the dog. They were very pleased to see Zack, no doubt because the parents had not got home yet! Apparently it has a collar, but 'it's too small'.  :|   The black dog had crossed a main road and heaven knows how many other roads to get where we found him. He was a soft old thing with arthritis.

Bloody careless buggers! Parents and kids!!!

Anyone that leaves a muzzle on a dog all the time should have it taken away; it would be better for the poor thing to be put down than have to suffer that discomfort for life.

And how the hell does someone have time to find a muzzle that fits yet not a properly sized collar?

Sorry I was ambiguous. Zack is an old black dog who has grey hair on his nose, it guess he's around 12yo. We cleared out my son's room and put down some blankets and were going to keep him over night and then take him to the dog pound or dog rescue centre today. But he was getting so stressed if I left him alone. It was looking like I was going to have to stop with him over night. I was so pleased when the police called and we confirmed a description and they put the owners in touch with us. He had a great time as I walked around with him for a couple of hours hoping I could find somebody who recognised him. It was nice to see how concerned people were when I asked them if they recognised him. Us Brit's do like our doggies, even if some are careless buggers!

Thinking about CAT scans. There's a particular woman whose brain I would love to see (firstly to determine that she does in fact have one) so that afterward I can get a specialist to diagnose her as a sick psycho. After a blood pressure test, of course.

I would love to see my own brain, strangely enough. I'd love to look at the cerebral mass and say: that's me, that's where I live!
