if there were no need for 'engineers from the quantum plenum' then we should not have any unanswered scientific questions.

Epimetheus

Quote from: "Tank"
Quote from: "Epimetheus"I feel proud right now. A guy who often proclaims to be 'the greatest debater' was giving a presentation and I wrecked him to the point where he couldn't explain his points and had to resort to "You're being rude. Teacher! Do something".
What was the subject of his presentation?

He was trying to explain the concept of existentialism.  He tried differentiating between religious and non religious existentialism, he kept insisting that religious existentialism was founded on the concept that meaning is derived from God, I calmly pointed out that it depends on which religion is in question. he also made a point to differentiate 'dialogue' from 'religious existentialism' as a subtype of religious existentialism and later insisted they were the same thing and finally in a roundabout way implied that he didn't know what he was talking about.

I assume you haven't run into the guy in charge of the Gay Straight alliance yet?
If religions were TV channels atheism is turning the TV off.

Remember, simple direct question, open body language, put the onus on him to behave in a polite manner e.g. Jim, what is it you appear to have against me that stops me joining the Gay Straight alliance?  The 'appear' is critical as it gives him 'wriggle room' to answer in a non-adversarial way and retract to a position where he won't lose face and still accommodate you as a member, as it only appeared that he didn't want you in the club, while in reality he would be delighted to have you.

Thank you :) Really, I often forget the subtle implications of diction. Funny how one word can largely change the implications of something.

I'm saving up for buying a guitar. Recently got 3000 kr ($528/£325) into my account and I can probably save 1000 of those, so if my plan goes well, I should be able to buy a guitar this April/May.

Well, I just got back from talking to the leader about why he wouldn't let me join. Bottom line is, he thinks I'm an asshole, and I'll admit I haven't been the nicest person to him. I don't much care anymore and I'm not going to try to get a principle or someone else involved. I don't want to force myself in somewhere I'm not wanted.

I'd like to get a 3.00 K/D ratio on Black Ops for the first time tonight.

Well at least you've got the issue out in the open. When you've calmed down we can have natter about what you really want and see if we can come up with a solution. But for the moment don't dwell on the issue.Take a deep breath, count to ten and move on.
