Spirits and ghosts I really can't say anything on, there have been tens of thousands of accounts but not a single one of them draw any proof other than "weird, freaky stuff happened". So until someone catches a video of a ghost materializing in front of them I'm afraid I'll be doubting.

As for extraterrestrial life, I think it's extremely ignorant for anyone to say that it is not possible. Of all the billions and billions of planets in the vast expanse of space, it's a bit absurd to think not a single one of them had the correct setup to form life and did. Whether they are any farther along than us in terms of technology is really up in the air, and whether they are anything more than your average lion/tiger/bear type of life is also debatable.

Personally, I'm seriously hoping for another race out there to show up, 100% peaceful, just to see the reactions from all the theists when their theories of "God made the universe for me" get turned upside down.

I agree about the likelihood of life existing elsewhere.

I read a series of books called 'Rama' by Arthur C Clarke, who postulated that there are millions of 'advanced' cultures springing up - and then snuffing out - all over the universe. The sad aspect of this story was that they were so far apart in time and space that it was exteremely unlikely that any two would actually have opportunity to meet in the same time and space. They all killed themselves or otherwise perished before breaking out of their own solar systems.

I am inclined to accept Clarkes postulation - it's slightly depressing, but reasonable.

That's a good point, the majority of humanity's progress was done in a few thousand years, that's the blink of an eye in the universe. We will most likely wind up killing ourselves out soon enough, maybe another thousand years or so at most I give it. It is a terribly depressing thought, that so many civilizations have lived and died that we could probably never even imagine. I'd never really considered it before.

It's quite funny actually. On a Catholic forum that I belong to, they were debating the likelihood that aliens coming to earth would be Catholic or not.
In the end they were saying no as they wouldn't be offspring of Adam and Eve. OMG!

Sometimes this is bothering me...
Do you believe in ghosts, spirits, or ET?

Well from myself, what I believe most is the existence of ET, because there are a lot of evidence proofing it. About spirits or ghosts, there are a lot of spiritual "practice" (I don't know any other suitable word), such as pesugihan (my language) which works like a voodoo but it's for attract someone or luck to come to those who use it. But, the user have to sacrifice something like their family (they don't want this) which most of the case the whole family and the user died one by one (well, I haven't checked this for sure).

How about you?

No, no and maybe but we'll probably never see one.  Mind explaining what your evidence is for all these things?

Umm, well, I never seen one in my own eyes and I don't have any strong evidence yet... But in my country, there are a lot of people have been possessed (except me). This is a video about possessed people (not in my country I guess, but it is the most appropriate video) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teveEK2XIQo
But for me, it is beyond logic.

Also there is a daughter from a family that transform into a stingray because she is seditious. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iA5uDod0wFM&feature=related
In my opinion, it is very weird to think because there are a lot of seditious people.

Derren Brown has done much to assuage the falsities of the supernatural. He is a genius when it comes to the human mind, and a worthy and complementary bedfellow to Richard Dawkins. There're countless resources online demonstrating his rationalizing and debunking the supernatural. He also has a good line in demonstrating how easy it is to make people 'feel' god through mind tricks - just like the church employ.

He's my new favourite Atheist...

This is the reason I don't bother with Christian forums.  How do you even respond to that?

Dammit Tank. You just ruined the Harry Potter movies for me now. I'll now see a preteen Dawkins in a wig instead of Hermione.
