Male here. I have no real data to back this up but it seems that women in general aren't that into forums/message boards.
As for women in atheism I really don't know. I only know of three confirmed atheists in real life, my two friends and their father. I am pretty sure their mother is too, she certainly isn't affiliated with any church nor does she seem to care about religion but I can't recall her ever really confirming her atheism.

It looks like this forum is mostly men, but I thought I would ask.
Willow (woman)

I'll tell you what, this place has a very high proportion of females in my experience of this type of forum. Now active (posting) members are mainly man. When you get to your 50 start some female centric threads and cultivate involvement of the women here.

This is an interesting topic, actually. Why do you think so few members of the female gender participate in debate oriented forums, typically? Even on this forum, 18.1:1 seems to call for an explanation.

Woman here, as you can see by the symbol over there. Debate oriented forum?! There is no requirement on debating is there? I'm no good at it.

Tank

There is no need to debate on this forum. Chat and discussion are fine :)

Maybe all the women are on forums you aren't interested in.  I am a member of Netmum, Mumsnet and Natural Mamas who are mostly women, and another private little forum which is exclusively female.  Parenting, particularly with babies and toddlers can be very isolating and internet forums can really help.

Yeah I realized soon after I posted that most other forums I visit are automotive related.

I want bad people to look forward to and celebrate the day I die, because if they don't, I'm not living up to my potential.

I'mma lady.

And I have frequented some forums where the percentage of women was 90% or more (wedding forums, baby forums, etc).
Generally, I like more diverse forums. It tends to prevent "gender bashing" type topics, which always make me shudder.

I'll let you decide.

Well you have a very androgynous face, and you obviously know that to ask us to guess. I'm just going to say that you look friendly and that's good. :)
