Icy cold (for the UK) today. Lovely brisk walk between arriving at work and getting to my desk

Sounds like a reason to go back to bed and turn up the electric blanket to me.  ;D

Aww Kahlua is adorable!

Hey, that's more snow than we've seen where I live all winter! We didn't even get a dusting! And next week we're supposed to almost hit 80. I'm soooo done with living in this place I can't even begin. Every single week we don't get any resemblance of a winter, I'm thinking of moving up to a state way up North for my Master's degree.
The temperature is supposed to be nearly 60 F here in the St. Louis, Missouri area by this weekend. I am very glad for I hate winter.

I don't understand how anyone this far South can hate winter.

I love winter, really bummed now because I'm heading north tomorrow, and the bloody temperature is supposed to go up, and it will be unusually warmer than it should be.

Had plan to ski some, but if it's too warm the snow will suck, so hoping to at least do some ice fishing...hopefully I don't fall through.

I don't understand folks who hate winter either, I mean I agree the snow can be a bother sometimes, but I love the cold dry air, snow covered fields and lakes....However, the worst winter I ever spent was in Missouri. I went through my Basic Training at Ft. Leonard Wood...god awful place. I was there from late November through March. Some days it was freezing so you could barely sleep at night, then it would warm up slight, then rain,... and than there's that horrible Missouri mud. One day your digging through the slop, next day it's frozen, than it's thawing and sticking to your boots like mucky clay.  :waah:
I did Winter training later in Alaska that was more enjoyable, sure it was colder, and a lot more snow, but it was consistent weather. (Plus to be honest in Basic they don't give you the best gear)

So I understand your feelings Velma.

People here in Missouri seem to forget what little they know about how to drive when it snows here. I'm from Mississippi and have less trouble driving in the snow than people who grew up here. Plus, the cold gnaws at my damaged joints, making them hurt even worse.

I wonder whatever happened to that member who was part of a group of 'Smurfs' who had unlocked the humanity-saving secrets of the (original??) bible? Seer was it? I liked the story he brought with him, but did anyone else think he was completely, deluded - in the psychiatric sense? Did these 'Smurfs' really exist, or am I just too cynical?

I'm betting on the Smurfs existing -- there seem to be more deluded people than delusions, so people with similar delusions must get together sometimes.  Humans being group-oriented animals and all.

Yup but I think most people are in some form or another.

You recon? I guess I'm on the wrong forum for arguing against the existence of shared delusions...

This has 'A Beautiful Mind' written all over it to me.

But this guy's delusion is off the chart. Most people's delusions are at least... credible. Aren't they? Isn't mine? Yours? ...Asmo's?

Anyone who thinks they know "truths" of some sort or even think "truths" of some sort even exist are more than a few notches up the scales of delusion.
