Quote from: "Ihateyoumike"I'm excited because I made my first animated gif. It's now my avatar. Was not as hard as I thought it would be using photoshop. Anyway, if anyone can't tell, it says Patrick. It is called an ambigram, and I learned about them after I read Dan Brown's Angels and Demons. A couple of years ago, I was bored and decided to try to make an ambigram of my first name. That picture is what I came up with. I have been wanting to make an avatar of it for a long time, and decided I was just bored enough today to do it.

LOL! Good job on it. Somewhere in one of my PS books it talks about how to do that, but I've never given it a shot. Looks like you had fun with it. Pretty neat stuff.

No offense to my fellow Texans...but Texas are stupid and get scared too easily.  The tornado siren here has been turned on twice tonight (that I heard, they could have been on when the storm was actually going over but it would have been too loud to hear them).  Both times it was going off when there was absolutely no threat of a tornado in my area.  I know there  was unseasonably violent weather in Oklahoma but that doesn't mean we all have to freak out.

When I lived in Oklahoma if a siren went off it meant a tornado was very likely to touch ground within a few miles of you or a storm already known to produce tornados was passing over.  So, the sirens had me frantically checking the weather for no reason.

Of course, it did let me find out that the siren stations for my area are far enough away that I am unlikely to wake up to them at night due to the faint sound.  (That's not good)

I don't think it's a true ambigram because the |( at the right side doesn't correspond to a letter at the beginning (p). Still, if it's any consolation, Dan Brown is a complete hack.

Tomorrow I'll be on my way to Washington DC again to visit my wife. We'll celebrate Valentine's Day in one of the best restaurants of the DC area (http://www.theinnatlittlewashington.com/restaurant.asp) and have several other nice events on our programme. I'll be back in one week from now.

^ Have a terrific visit, Tom.

BTW, weren't you supposed to move to the US?    Or did that plan fall through?

Here's to a great weekend, everyone!

Ug.  Today was Valentine Day at school.  Jessie Rose got a "Jesus Loves You" card from a little girl who previously told her that if she didn't believe in him, she'd go to hell.  Nice.  Needless to say, Jessie was a bit upset.  Why do parents encourage such things, in a public school, no less?  It's horrible.   :(

Today I am thinking and laughing at a joke I found....

Once all the scientists died and went to heaven. They decide to play hide-n-seek.Unfortunately Einstein is has to seek and is supposed to count up to 100 and then start searching.
Everyone starts hiding except Newton - he just draws a square of 1 meter and stands in it right in front of Einstein.
Einstein keeps counting......97,98,99.....100........
He opens his eyes and finds Newton standing there.
Einstein says "Newton's out.. Newton's....out....." Newton denies and says I am not out. He claims that he is not Newton!!

All the scientists come out and he proves that he is not newton

How?

Newton says:
I am standing in a square of area 1m square.
That means i am Newton per meter square.
Hence i am Pascal....since newton per meter square = Pascal,
Pascal is OUT.
A casual stroll through a lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything.

That plan is still there, but we decided to postpone it for another year. My wife is still not sure whether she would like to stay in the US, because the "American" way of doing things sometimes drives her crazy. We also like to wait until the financial crisis has blown over.

I hear the tornado siren alot and it doesn't scare me. The reason why is because the fire station nearby has this weird necessity to turn it on whenever a thunderstorm begins.

Thanks for the update, Tom.  I wouldn't move here right now, either.
