This is a great video.

***EDIT*** once you finish watching this in the selection afterwards look at Dawkins vs. Tyson.  I never expected the ending to that.

I have yet to watch the dawkins tyson vid. I will definitely watch it now. The last dawkins video I watched was a short interview with him on some news show (I want to say fox). They had an atheist, a pastor, and a journalist. Afterwards they all discussed the interview. I forget the atheist ladies name (she is a big name in atheism) but she REALLY  disappointed me. It was at the end of the show and the music was kicking on when the pastor asked her where does she get her morals if not from god. I don’t know if it was a cheap shot at the end of the interview, if she was offended by this and choose not to reply, or what. But it is by far one of the easiest responses and one of the most ignorant questions a person of faith could ask. I was disappointed she didn’t reply and seemed stumped.

Well, I'm disappointed in the Dawkins/Tyson video. I was expecting :hissyfit:  Mike Tyson.

:verysad:  My great grandfather died yesterday. He was a great healthy man, and he died relatively peacefully (in his sleep). My Great Grandfather was one of the Danish Jews that managed to survive the Holocaust because of this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rescue_of_the_Danish_Jews

They held a ceremony to celebrate and mourn his death. He migrated from Wales to Denmark when he was a young child because of his father's job, and then to America later in his life, after both my grandmother and my mother moved here.

I decided to read a book called Number the Stars, a story about Nazi occupation in Denmark during 1943, to get an idea of what he may have experienced.

With the current knowledge I have of contemporary Danish history; it's now become my favourite country. Those people are fucking amazing! I still have some family over there, and I just may relocate there later on. If I get an IB diploma, my education will be legit there.

This news is an interesting study in the difficulties in religions in the US trying to do what can be considered a combination of altruistic, self-serving, and clumsy applications.

http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/200 ... hungry.cnn

Feeding the homeless can easily be operated out of donations or outlets close to homeless areas.  Neighborhood locations (which many churches choose to reside in) can decide to adopt policies to serve the neighborhood at which they reside.

We had/have the same problem with downtown Seattle where local businesses objected harshly to homeless-housing proposals in the same area (Pioneer District).  Although, the Pioneer District has little religious indoctrination intentions and the homeless were already there.  I would think that the church in the article move it's food operations closer to the area most in need via 'roach coaches' or food bank collections that get dispersed to homeless organizations.  It would be harder to serve theism to starving folks outside a religious facility which maybe why they prefer to keep it in-house.  But, I don't think even the more 'avid' Abrahamic folks are beyond altruistic solutions.

Well, not all of them of course <g>.
