Greydon Square -- Atheist rapper

I'm not really a hip hop fan. I certainly can't stand ignorant mainstream rap artists, but I do happen to listen to a few underground hip hop artists who happen to write songs with meaning (their ideals and vociferations, etc.).

Back in June '08 I discovered a rapper by the name of Greydon Square. Two seconds after discovering this cat, I found out that he's an atheist rapper. Fifteen minutes later I found myself buying his album "C.P.T Theorem."

Quite right! It's a great thing to do not just for the message it sends but the way it bring the issue into the main stream for the audience.

I hope this rapper dude reverts to music to deliver his message. Most of the rap that I am forced to hear comes from boom box cars that are loud enough to wreck trains. The lyrics will almost never pass the civility tests. I am not permitted here to quote some of the profane words that are prevalent in rap noise. So rappers in general are delivering profane and lurid messages that the fundies attribute to atheists. If that is so, are all rappers atheists?.  Well no not really because I have heard of a new genre called christian rap. Fortunately I have not been exposed to that sort of cruel and unusual punishment.

I'm not a fan of rap in general. Alright, this is how it's been during my life:

Grew up listening to a bunch of crappy pop (aka popular music on mainstream radio), then I listened to a bunch of mainstream rap BS during my early teen years before I started to develop a diverse range of music tastes.

I'll listen to anything, along as it has meaning behind it as well as passion included.

Greydon Square raps for two reasons. 1.) he's good at what he does; he is able to string together words and make it sound good. Or at least I think so. And 2.) he's getting the word out about atheism and aggressively attacking the faults of religion as a whole.

Whether you like his music or not, if you're an atheist I am positive that you are inclined to respect his message, what he stands for and what he's aiming to do!

I like some rap, I like some of Greydon's songs but not all of them.  The man is really troubled though, it shows through in at least one of his songs (forgot which but remember it being disappointing) as well as how he conducts himself in public.

For the record, as long as the words aren't inherently racist we don't have a no profanity rule on HAF.
