The UK police have uncovered 7(?) islamist terrorist plots in the UK in the last 12 months. We are a target for these people because our historical and currant involvement in the Middle East.

The people who will be effected by this are the Cypriots. The Northern half of the island is Islamic in nature so the minority nutters can move around and recruit relatively easily. The RAF base these attacks are launched from is in the majority Christian south of the island. ISIS will target Cypress to try to get the Cypriots to expel the RAF base.

The world is royally fucked up.  I Am not so sure that the UK, the US, or France,  or anyone else should be involved in the Syrian boondoggle. We in the western world have taken it upon ourselves to police the middle east and set them on a course that satisfies our perception of social, and political justice. Good luck with that!

Alas, the crazies have imposed their will on us in the form of senseless massacres of perfectly uninvolved people. Now we have our own murderous lunatics in Santa Barbara California. Fourteen dead, ten in critical condition in a hospital.   Nine more injured. It ain't Paris but they do have our attention.

On the other side of the coin: I just finished a book titled; The Lion Of Sobray.  It is all about the rescue of a mortally wounded Navy seal named Marcus Lutrell. He was the sole survivor of a tremendous firefight with a Taliban horde in the Hindu Kush in northern Afghanistan. Sobray is a small village in the foothills of the Himalayas. There are no roads or other access to the village except by walking over the mountains. A Pashtun warrior named Mohammed Golub rescued the Seal and defended him against all odds from the Talibanis who were determined to kill Marcus even if meant wiping out the whole village. The Talibanis  were  aware that the village was well armed and consisted of warriors who could decimate the attackers.

Golub is a devout Muslim who does not believe in senseless killing as do all of the people of the Pashtun interpretation of Islam.. He believed that he was obligated by Allah to give comfort to another human being even though he was an infidel. His village was obliged and ready to defend Marcus to the death of every person in Sobray including the women and children all of whom were fierce fighters in the thousand year Pashtun tradition.  The book was a page turner based on a real life episode. Bottom line: all the Muslims are not dedicated to killing all the Kafirs. Some of them are decent and valiant people. Our problem is to learn who the crazies are and who is not.

The text made it clear that there are Muslims who have as much or more compassion for humans as any one else anywhere. The Pashtuns are all fierce warriors but they do not ascribe to killing without cause.

The Uk RAF base is only 15 minutes from my home. Planes ahve already started taking off a few days ago. From what I hear there is not enough regulation in the occupied part of cyprus. I can;t hide it I am actually worried

Frankly it's not ISIS style to attack the base. They'll bomb Nicosia for political effect to get the 'Greek' Cypriot side of the island to evict the RAF.

The contra position may be that ISIS value the soft route into Europe via Greece. They may not want to jeopardise that by giving the Greek government an excuse to block 'refugees'.

Only time will tell.

damn that's even scarier. At least the base of RAF is at a long beach which is not very crowded. Nicosia is well... full of people
